Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH27 (Black)

There are a lot of people out there who simply want an affordable camera that takes a decent picture in auto, has some extra zoom power, and can still be slipped in a pocket. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH27 is just that. With camera manufacturers trying...

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH27 is a straightforward point-and-shoot with a flexible lens and useful touch-screen operation.

Its 16-megapixel resolution is a bit of a waste and you can't use the optical zoom while recording movies.

Simple and satisfying, Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FH27 is an excellent point-and-shoot value.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH27

How do you tell if one 16-megapixel point-and-shoot camera is better than the other? We're here to help you find out before you drop 200 bucks.

8x wide-angle zoom (28-224mm) ; 3-inch screen touch screen ; Battery lasts 250 shots

Very noisy above ISO 400 ; No mini HDMI out ; GUI dated compared to competition

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH27 has some good things going for it with a compact body and a versatile 8x optical zoom, but it's video is behind the times.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH27 Review

The Panasonic FH27 attempts to offer style and substance all in one thin, lightweight package.

Lightweight but good build quality ; Quick, reliable performance ; Good image quality, even in low light

Zoom control is a little fiddly ; No zoom or auto focus in movie mode ; Touchscreen not terribly responsive in playback mode

The ISO table below shows images with good color and minimal noise through 400 ISO, with noise becoming more of a factor at 800 and 1600 ISO. These are very good results, especially considering the fact that the FH27 is packing 16.1 megapixels into its...

DMC-FH27

My new Lumix camera seems to have great features. Up to now I discovered the basic things and I'm quite satisfied with the results. My only problem is the instruction manual that comes on a disc. My computer does not have a disc reader and I wrote to...

Nice piece of garbage

This camera is garbage. We bought it for our office, we take pictures of clothing very often, and operating this is a nightmare. Trying to set the exposure to capture black stitching on black fabric was a headache, the touchscreen is ridiculous, I have...

Well designed Point-and-Shoot pocket camera: Lumix FH25

Replaces old Fuji Finepix which took excellent pictures. Experience so far suggests Panasonic Lumix was an excellent choice (reviewed many other brands but none matched the reviews for Panasonic Lumix models -- both the FH25 and SZ1 are great products)...
