Fujifilm FinePix SL1000 Review

50x optical zoom has become the benchmark for superzoom digital cameras. The first to feature such a massive telephoto lens was the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS that could extend to a whopping 1200 mm—equivalent to those long-barreled super telephoto lenses...

The entire shell of the Fujifilm FinePix SL1000 sports a matte rubberised finish. Along with the ribbed rubber grip around the lens barrel and textured rubber grip for handling the camera, you actually feel like you’re wielding a high-quality product....

Fujifilm FinePix SL1000

The Fujifilm FinePix SL1000 puts 50x zoom power into a compact SLR-style camera, but it's not the best we've tested at high ISOs.

Sharp lens. Snappy performance. Impressive 50x zoom range. Excellent image stabilization. Raw shooting support. EVF. Hinged rear display. Comfortable handgrip. 10fps burst shooting. Hot shoe. 1080p60 video

Raw mode disables continuous drive mode. Limited shots per burst. Not the best at high ISOs. Some commonly used settings only accessible via the menu

The Fujifilm FinePix SL1000 ($399.95 direct) packs a 50x zoom lens into a the form factor that's best described as a mini-SLR. The 16-megapixel camera features a deep handgrip, a tilting rear LCD, and an eye-level EVF. It impressed us with a sharp lens...

Fujifilm FinePix SL1000 Preview

At CES 2013, Fujifilm announced a new "bridge camera", designed for those who need more than a simple point-and-shoot, but maybe aren't quite ready to purchase a full dSLR. Fuji mates a 16MP BSI-CMOS image sensor to a F2.9-5.6, 50x optical zoom lens...

Fuji FinePix SL1000

All the features of a crossover superzoom, but with the feel of a bulky point-and-shoot.

Impressive 50x optical zoom; Tilting LCD

Fails to beat out the Canon SX50; Somewhat cheap-feeling construction

The SL1000 is a solid option for entry-level super-zoom photographers, and those looking to save a few bucks might well consider it over the similarly equipped Canon SX50 HS.

Big zoom, small expense

The camera is great. I wanted a high quality, super zoom and that is what I got. Due to the tendency to have shaking issues with any camera that has a significant zoom, I often use a burst mode. By taking several pictures at once, you are more likely...

50x zoom, 16+MP

Cannot run on standard batteries in a pinch

Purchased for my wife who is a beginner camera use

My wife had been researching cameras for quite some time and hinted that this is what she wanted. I then checked my BB store and found that this model had to be ordered online, which I did. Camera arrived a few days later and she is learning about it...

Excellent zoom

I was able to be in the 2nd to last row in auditorium for my daughters Christmas Play and get close up shots. Even though she couldn't stand still for a good shot, I was able to get several photos my iphone would not have been able to get. Still...

Zoom is extraordinary

Can't figure out how to watch video after I've recorded it
