The enthusiast compact camera segment has seen a lot of action. It started with pocketable cameras featuring a slightly larger sensor than the standard 1/2.3-inch type along with fully manual controls and support for RAW (for instance, the Canon...

The XF1 can shoot videos at up to full HD at 30 fps. Other resolutions include 1280 x 720 and 640 x 480 (both at 30 fps). High speed shooting is also allowed, but at lower resolutions—320 x 112 at 200 fps, 320 x 240 at 120 fps and 640 x 480 at 70 fps....

Fujifilm XF1 (Black)

There are camera designs people tolerate in order to get the features and performance they want. Likewise, there are good-looking cameras that aren't necessarily the best performers. The Fujifilm XF1 falls somewhere in the middle, mixing an overall...

The Fujifilm XF1 looks great and can be a lot of fun to shoot. It has a fast f1.8 maximum aperture and captures in raw and raw plus JPEG. It also has a healthy selection of shooting options and a good control layout.

Some of its best photos come at the cost of control and resolution. The lens gets much slower when zoomed in. There's no option to add an external flash or viewfinder.

The Fujifilm XF1 is one of the nicest-looking point-and-shoots available and it performs well, too. But its photos and features might not please some enthusiasts.

The Fujifilm XF1 is a neat retro-look compact camera with sharp optics, but its light-gathering capability diminishes as you zoom.

Retro styling. Sharp lens. Wide aperture at 25mm. Manual zoom lens. Collapsible lens design. Low image noise. Raw support

Expensive. Small aperture when zoomed in. Limited zoom range. No viewfinder or hot shoe. Loud focus

The Fujifilm XF1 ($499.95 direct) is slim compact camera with a sexy retro design. Its chrome body is available with a tan, black, or red leatherette covering, and has a retractable lens with a manual zoom design. The 12-megapixel shooter's 2/3-inch...

FujiFilm FinePix XF1 Review

Some photographers like to have a camera that turns heads because of its interesting look or because of a unique operational feature. The Fujifilm XF1 fixed-lens camera offers both. Some people will enjoy the stylish, retro look of the XF1, with its...

High-quality lens produces sharp images ; Large image sensor allows XF1 to excel in low-light photos ; Popup flash works well for portrait photos ; Flash intensity can be adjusted with on-screen menus ; Mode dial saves time when picking shooting modes...

Camera is pricey for a fixed-lens model ; Odd sequence for turning on the camera may frustrate some users ; Start up takes a bit too long ; Too easy to power down the camera while simply adjusting the manual zoom lens ; Although ISO up to 12,800 is...

I had been looking for a compact camera to use when I don't feel like lugging around my Canon DSLR. And when I saw that Best Buy put these guys out on clearance for $169.99 I couldn't say no. That's $300 off the MSRP! I was previously considering the...
