HP Photosmart R937

If you're looking for a snapshot camera that stands out from the crowded pack of compact models available these days, check out the Photosmart R937. What really sets this 8-megapixel camera apart is its unusual design. Unlike more traditionally shaped...

Big touch-screen display is easy to use. Large selection of in-camera photo effects. Tools for tagging, editing, sharing, and automatically printing images. Extensive help features.

Unremarkable image quality. Lacks conventional manual controls and a vertical zoom toggle. Bulkier than many pocket-size snapshot cameras.

If creative shooting control, optical range, or compactness are your priorities, look elsewhere. But if you want a big touch screen and you value in-camera photo editing, the R937 delivers.

HP Photosmart R937

Don't judge a book by its cover, and don't judge a camera by its appearance. HP's 8-megapixel Photosmart R937 might look strange, but its unique design makes it one of the more pleasant snapshot cameras to work with.

Intuitive interface; huge screen; fast performance.

Horrible noise; really small zoom rocker.

If not for the massive amounts of noise in some photos, the HP Photosmart R937 would be a good point-and-shoot camera.

A huge 3.6-inch LCD is the star feature of HP's Photosmart R937. During my hands-on testing of a production model, it caused strangers to stop to watch as I composed my shots, and friends said they loved how easily they could view images on it.

Beautiful 3.6-inch display ; Easy touch-screen controls

Lacks some fancier features

The enormous touch-screen display looks spectacular and makes the R937 a cinch to use.

HP's latest camera offers a unique touchscreen but involves too many trade-offs.

"Malfunctioned after 14 months!"

For the price you pay, I'd expect this camera to last more than 14 months! Contacted HP, we'll see what they have to say.

The screen is excellent to see a quick view of what you just shot.

Red eye is BAD. Our camera started giving an error code after only 14 months of use. It would freeze midshot and give a blue screen which made you lose your data. Now, two years later, it goes crazy, flashing pictures and shutting on and off.

"Camera seemed good until the touch screen broke."

I will never buy another HP product.

Loved the large screen and the touch screen - never dreamt it would break so soon.

Once the touch screen goes, the camera is done. I only had the camera for a little over a year, and probably only took about 300 pictures.

"died after one year of use"

For the price, it failed too soon. I kept it in camera case when not in use.

Love the ease of the camera, large display, easy to set up, great pictures

Hard to see screen in daylight, camera quit working after one year anniversary, just went dead.

"LOVE THIS CAMERA!"

LID WHERE YOU SLIDE OUT TO GET YOUR BATTERY/SD CARD IS TOO CHEAP AND FLIMSY AS A PIECE OF THE LIP BROKE OFF AND YOU CAN'T REPAIR IT EXCEPT WITH A PIECE OF TAPE.

I LOVE THIS CAMERA DUE TO THE LARGE SCREEN AND STYLIST PEN YOU GET TO USE THE TOUCHSCREEN. TAKES GREAT PICS.

BROKE A TINY PIECE OFF OF THE LIP WHERE YOU SLIDE THE BOTTOM TO GET YOUR MEMORY CARD/BATTERY. NO REPLACEMENT AS ITS SO TINY YOU CAN'T EVEN GLUE IT! THAT PART OF THE LID YOU SLIDE OUT IS WAY TOO FRAGILE AND FLIMSY! I GUESS I HAVE TO TAPE IT SHUT!
