Digital Cameras: Kodak EasyShare V705

More megapixels can sometimes result in more noise, as I found with this new EasyShare V-series camera.

Unique dual lens and dual-sensor design. Very compact. Excellent performance. Wonderful panorama scene mode.

Very noisy. Images should be much sharper. Pricey.

When comparing this camera to others, it’s hard not to notice one major flaw: it’s a little expensive. The price ranges from $275 to $350 online. Now, compare that to the Canon PowerShot, which sells for between $200 and $300. But, it also boasts...

Camera Review: Kodak EasyShare V705

When picking up the solid and weighty 7.1MP Kodak EasyShare V705 ($299.95, street), one gets the illusion that it's a chrome brick with no moving parts. But then you push the power button and hear "thuuuuuuuunk" and you'd swear that you just closed the...

Kodak Easyshare V705 Review

The Kodak Easyshare V705 is interesting for only one reason, its two lenses. While the first lens is somewhat typical, the second lens shows a 23mm equivalent ultra-wide field of view. This is quite rare among fixed-lens digital cameras.

Rare ultra-wide lens in ultra-compact camera, Fast focusing, Low distortion with zoom lens, Great LCD visibility, In camera panorama stitching, Good build quality except for memory door

Large gap in zoom range, Slow and jerky zoom, Very high noise at ISO 800 and 1000, General image softness, Very high distortion with ultra-wide angle lens, Lack of grip and tiny buttons means poor handling

The most interesting feature on the camera is the lens system. Kodak's Retina technology pairs two lenses which combine to create 5x zoom. The top lens is the ultra-wide 23mm lens and is not a zoom lens. The bottom lens is a standard 3x optical zoom...
