Kodak Easyshare Z980

If only camera manufacturers focused as much on quality, as they did with cramping up spec sheets with as many useless features as possible, life would be so much better for everyone. Kodak's gone down a similar path with the feature-rich Easyshare Z980.

Unless you're the type of person who doesn't mind sacrificing quality for many useless features, there's no reason compelling enough to buy this camera. It's available for Rs. 20,499, which is quite cheap, but as I said before, so is the build and...

Kodak Easyshare Z980

As manufacturers produce more megazoom cameras with similarly astounding capabilities (the 26mm-to-624mm-equivalent lens that's now de rigueur comes to mind), pinpointing the features that make a camera unique becomes more difficult. For the Kodak...

Additional vertical shutter button ; Shoots in RAW and JPEG

Image quality a bit below average ; On/off switch is difficult to use

Anyone who takes a lot of vertical shots, shoots in RAW, and needs a hotshoe can probably overlook the Z980's image shortcomings.

Kodak EasyShare Z980

Announced at CES 2009 , the Kodak EasyShare Z980 was the first megazoom camera to boast a wide-angle 24x zoom lens. It seemed a bit bulky, but we were forgiving as it was a first of its kind and that is a big lens. Of course shortly after Kodak's...

Good, vibrant color; lots of shooting options, manual controls; hot shoe for add-on flash; includes rechargeable AA batteries.

Clunky design; noisy photos.

The Kodak EasyShare Z980 has a lot to offer--including a wide-angle 24x zoom lens--but you'll have to overlook its clunky design and noisy photos.

Kodak Easyshare Z980 Digital Camera First Impressions Review

The Kodak Easyshare Z980 is a new 24x ultra-zoom with a 12-megapixel sensor, and will cost $399.95 when it comes out in Spring 2009. In addition to the massive zoom and high pixel count, the defining feature of this camera is a second shutter button...

The Z980 from Kodak is a camera we'll be very interested to get into our labs, but based on what we've seen on the floor at CES, we are very impressed with the 24x zoom, the full set of manual modes, and the ability to shoot in vertical orientation....

Kodak EasyShare Z980

With its size being a bit of a hindrance, the Z980 manages to provide enough features to make it an attractive camera. The zoom range is the most that can be found without moving up into a lower end DSLR camera, and the click to capture speed will give...

Review: Kodak Easyshare Z980 digital camera

If you don't mind the additional weight and size, and you can overlook the slight shortcomings in imaging, the EasyShare Z980 is a decent buy.

My first thought on seeing the Z980: “Yikes, this is bulky.” When I loaded the four AA-type rechargeable batteries, I felt the same apprehension about the weight. But once I started using the camera, I came to appreciate the solidness and comfort that...

One of the fastest growing segments in digital photography is the "super zoom" category. These cameras, with lenses greater han 18X, offer an incredible zoom range in fairly compact bodies. If you even could, an equivalent lens for a digital SLR would...

None of the cameras include memory cards. Instead, they have memory built right in, ranging from 22MB on the Olympus to 47MB on the Kodak and Nikon. You'll certainly want to add more memory, and all of the cameras except for the SP-590UZ support SD and...

Kodak EasyShare Z980 Review at PhotographyBLOG

Image quality is at the heart of any camera, but unfortunately it's also at the top of the Z980′s list of problems. Noise is evident even at the slowest ISO speed of 64, and it will become apparent even in prints at ISO 400 and faster, limiting the...
