Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ62 review

Considering the length of the zoom, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ62 is a very inexpensive camera. It's fast and produces output that's very good on the whole, but close examination reveals compression in images and there's a fair amount of grain at high...

Long zoom ; Inexpensive ; Accurate colour reproduction ; Good video performance

Some heavy compression evident upon close examination ; Grain at high sensitivities

The FZ62 is very similar to the FZ200 in many ways, but a lot of the latter's most compelling features are missing. This is to be expected in a camera that's so much cheaper and Panasonic has compensated by upping the resolution considerably. However,...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ62 review

The FZ62 is the successor to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ48, which was one of our favourite ultra-zoom cameras of 2011. We were particularly impressed that Panasonic had moved from 14 megapixels in the earlier FZ45 to 12 megapixels in the FZ48, as this...

Not much different to last year's FZ48, but that's no bad thing. A solid all-rounder at a great price

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ62

Updated with video: A mid-range superzoom that's easy to use and has good image quality.

Quality build and feel ; Versatile focal range ; Strong overall image quality

Aspect ratio of monitor results in wasted screen space ; Lack of Raw capture ; Claimed 10fps only good for three consecutive shots

The Panasonic Lumix FZ62 is another worthy addition to Panasonic’s already well-regarded superzoom range. It’s a well-featured model that offers something for both enthusiast and novice photographers, while image quality remains good in a variety of...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ62

I previously owned (& still own) the FZ48 so it was an easy transition for me to move to the FZ62. I have not found any of the problems that 'laago', the previous poster has experienced. Auto focus is fast & accurate, my fingers or thumb do not...

Image quality, camera build, ease of operation, comprehensive menu

Nothing so far

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ62

UPDATED 2/10/2012 I own this camera & after a nightmare trying to get the printable manual (see below) the jury is still out. I agree with the other reviewer/writer it has excellent features, too many without a manual to hand, also too many menus....

Value, viewfinder, some photos are good, movies are good, battery life

Body design & buttons, erratic stills focusing, no manual, no extened exposure

New model adds little

This is a good bridge camera which replaces the FZ48 but note that HD video recording is still 1080i/720p not the full 1080p/50fps you get on the FZ150 and there is no option to connect an external microphone for much improved sound recording. It is...
