Nikon Coolpix 3100

Nikon introduced the Coolpix 3100 (three megapixel) and Coolpix 2100 (two megapixel) digital cameras. Although both models are based around the same body, operation and control setup there are some subtle differences. They have different lenses,...

Small well designed body with ergonomic control layout ; Very easy to use, simple menus and straightforward features ; Large number of zoom steps allows very fine adjustment ; Unique Framing Assist live view overlays ; Good build quality, solid feel ;...

Lens soft near corners / edges at maximum aperture ; No AF Assist lamp (although still a good performance without it) ; Sometimes slow AF in low light ; Over saturation of magenta ; Halo sharpening artifacts visible around black detail ; Poor night...

The Coolpix 3100 is clearly aimed at the first time buyer who wants a carry everywhere camera but is on a limited budget. And for that the Coolpix 3100 certainly fits, its small compact design is both easy to carry and comfortable (something not easy...

Nikon 3100 Camera Review - PCWorld

Though it doesn't feel as rock-solid as the equally small Canon PowerShot Digital Elph models, the Coolpix 3100 is an ounce lighter and costs significantly less. What it lacks in sophistication it makes up in ease of use, making it an ideal...

Nikon Coolpix 3100

The entry-level 3 Megapixel arena is very crowded, with all of the major manufacturers participating. That means you need quite a camera to come out on top

Very good photo quality outdoors ; Manual white balance ; Lots of scene modes ; Support for external flash ; Nice playback mode, though no exposure info shown

Too much noise, especially at lower light levels ; Noticeable redeye ; No AF illuminator ; So-so movie mode ; Bundle could be better

The Nikon Coolpix 3100 is a decent enough camera, but certainly not the best in class. It's a point-and-shoot camera with only one manual control (white balance). The scene modes are a nice touch, though I think that some of the overlays on the LCD are...
