Nikon Coolpix 3200 Digital Camera Review

The 3.2-megapixel Nikon Coolpix 3200, announced in January 2004, is popular among photographers new to the digital format. With its 1/2.7-inch CCD, the Coolpix 3200 is aimed at entry level point-and-shoot users who will appreciate the automatic...

- Comfortable distance between controls, allowing for easy and quick access -Nicely proportioned 1.6-inch LCD screen on a smaller camera body -The internal 14.5MB of memory allows for shooting without the optional (although inevitably required) SD...

-Lack of overall manual control -Poorly positioned zoom lens and microphone, each placed so that the user can easily blur both the shot and the audio during recording or still image shooting -Irksome in-menu graphics are patronizing and menu set-up...

Nikon Coolpix 3200

Decent image quality; autofocus-assist lamp; simple operation; solid macro capabilities.

No memory card or rechargeable batteries in the box; few manual controls; slow shot-to-shot time with flash; no diopter adjustment; slow autofocus in dim light.

This easy-to-use Nikon is a good starter camera for the new digital photographer, but it lacks most manual controls more-experienced shooters demand, and both the memory card and the rechargeable batteries cost extra.

Nikon Coolpix 3200

Included Memory: On Board, Media Format: Secure Digital, Maximum Resolution: 2048 x 1536 pixels, Type: Compact, Inc...

Focuses well in low light. Easy to use. Abundant scene select/scene assist modes (with guides).

Slow. No shutter or aperture priority modes. No selectable ISO. Unimpressive video mode.

The Nikon Coolpix 3200 is an entry-level compact digital camera that's easy to use, with an emphasis on scene select modes for foolproof shooting. The camera's image quality is acceptable for an entry-level camera.

The Coolpix 3200 is an easy to use and reasonably priced (~$300 at the time of this review) three-megapixel compact camera. It yields sharp pictures with good tone and color saturation. The 3-megapixel high quality images will yield photo-quality prints r

Nikon Coolpix 3200

There a whole lot of other cameras like the 3200 out there -- how well does it fare? Find out now in our review

Compact body ; Very good photo quality -- in good light ; AF illuminator ; Very good LCD display ; Impressive macro ability ; VGA movie mode ; Interesting "blur detection" feature ; Many scene modes

Noisy images in low light ; Redeye ; Sluggish shot-to-shot performance (after two shots are taken); camera is locked up while camera finishes writing to memory card ; Aside from white balance, no manual controls ; No exposure information in playback...

All in all, the CP3200 is a good camera for outdoor photos, but if you do a lot of indoor shooting, you'll probably want to find a camera with an ISO setting that you can lock.

"It is a compact 16MP claiming excellent specifications."

Simply useless - If in USA, I would have returned it next day. Do not waste time on using this. This model spoils the name of Nikon. Let them withdraw this model (or buy back this).

Small size, Low cost, Easy to shoot

Blurred picture, requires more lighting, cheats our expectations, bad value for money.

"I think it's a good camera."

I don't see what everybody else's problem is ...

There's a lot of features. I've had the camera for like 5 or 6 years now w/o incident. It serves it's purpose for the price

The MP is a little low for me now that it's 2010
