Nikon Coolpix 800

Rumors abound a couple of months ago, the name CP800 bounced around the newsgroups and discussion forums but nobody had any details about Nikons rumored new digital camera. On 27th September Nikon did their normal worldwide simultaneous announcement,...

What no USB ; No CF Type II support ; Can't scroll in playback zoomed mode ; Limited zoom (2x.. matches S10)

Product Specifications

Nikon offers the Coolpix 800 superior-performance digital camera that features a 2.11-megapixel CCD and a specially designed 2x zoom lens, for high-definition images and the highest possible optical performance. The Coolpix 800 is based on these three concepts - refined image quality, accelerated performance and increased versatility. Although the Coolpix 800 was designed based on the current Coolpix 700, it provides the same high picture quality and functionality as the Coolpix 950. Positioned in the middle of the lineup, this easy-to-operate, affordable model with 2x zoom capability has the overall quality necessary to assume a leading position in the market. The Coolpix 800's 2x Zoom-Nikkor lens (7,14mm; 35mm format equivalent to 38,76mm) enhances image sharpness, clarity and color. Digital zoom function provides 1.25x, 1.6x, 2x or 2.5x magnification. An advanced 1/2-in. high-density CCD produces ultrahigh-definition 1, 600 x 1, 200-pixel images. Superior overall picture quality is further enhanced by Nikon's algorithm and system LSI, high-precision autofocus (480 steps), three intelligent exposure metering systems (Nikon's exclusive 256-segment Matrix, Center-Weighted and Spot), and Matrix Auto White Balance. Macro setting allows shooting as close as 7cm (2.8 in.) from a subject. The camera offers several capture modes, including the Ultra High-speed Continuous mode for shooting 40 QVGA-size (320 x 240 pixels) images at up to approx. 30 frames per second. Continuous mode for 1.5 fps. shooting for full-size image in Normal compression mode and Multiple Continuous mode for shooting of up to sixteen 1/16-size frames are also available.
