Nikon Coolpix L810 review

Editors' note: During my testing, I experienced some performance issues that Nikon attributed to my review camera being an early production sample. I tested a second L810 camera, and while its autofocus and overall shooting performance were still slow,...

The Nikon Coolpix L810 is an inexpensive 26x megazoom point-and-shoot that's easy to use and runs on AA batteries.

The L810 performs poorly in low light and indoors without a flash, and its shooting performance is slow, as is its autofocus.

The Nikon Coolpix L810 offers a lot of specs at a low price. If you need fast shooting performance, though, you'll need to spend more money.

Nikon Coolpix L810 Preview

A camera for photographers who need to get into the action but at a fair price. Whether you're out in nature trying to spy a rare species, or sitting up in the nosebleed's at the championship game, the L810 ultra-zoom range will make it feel like you...

The Nikon Coolpix L810 is a 16 Megapixel super-zoom with a 26x optical range and a 3 inch 921k pixel LCD screen. Its compact size and long zoom range combined with point-and-shoot features set it apart from the competition which mostly offers more...

Nikon Coolpix L810 Review

As far as I can recall, this is Nikon's longest range maxi-zoom compact. Previously there was the L20, with a 21x zoom — but nothing at this 26x level.

There is a demand for such cameras. And, as I’ve said before, if you want long zooms, the last thing you want is to lug a heavy DSLR with a pricey and heavy lens … if you could find a DSLR zoom with a 20x plus range!

Nikon Coolpix L810 review

Nikon's stylish entry-level superzoom with a 26x zoom and 16MP

Easy to use ; Broad focal range ; Two zoom levers ; One touch video recording

No viewfinder ; Fixed LCD screen ; Runs on AA batteries ; Not Full HD video

In recent months, the world of camera manufacturing has gone superzoom crazy. From the top end likes of the Fuji X-S1 to the budget-priced Olympus SP-620UZ, most brands have something new to sell.
