Nikon Coolpix P310

Roughly a year ago, we received the Nikon Coolpix P300, a professional point and shoot compact camera that offered a plethora of functions, including an aperture of F/ 1.8 on the wide spectrum. The camera offered really good image quality, but left us...

The Nikon Coolpix P310 is available in India at a market operating price of Rs. 16,450. The camera is designed well and will definitely appeal to most people. Having semi manual and manual features, this model can be a great choice for those looking to...

Nikon Coolpix P310 Review: Premium Compact Camera at a Bargain Price

The Nikon Coolpix P310 is without peer at its price ($300 as of August 15, 2012). It's a premium compact camera priced more like your average point-and-shoot, with a fast F1.8 lens, manual exposure controls, very good image quality, and a pocket-size...

F1.8 lens with good low-light performance ; Manual exposure controls ; Excellent macro capabilities

Slow save speeds for Night Landscape and video ; No RAW-shooting mode

With an F1.8 lens, manual exposure controls, and a much lower price than other premium point-and-shoots, the pocketable Coolpix P310 offers excellent bang for the buck.

Nikon Coolpix P310

The Nikon Coolpix P310 is a point-and-shoot camera that delivers excellent image quality and a fast f/1.8 lens. Serious photographers will love its physical control layout, but more casual shooters may scoff at its bulky design and limited zoom range.

Fast, sharp lens. Good high ISO performance. Excellent control layout. Sharp rear LCD

Bulky. Noticeable shutter lag. Limited zoom range

The P310 is a great camera for enthusiasts, but it does have one aspect that is sure to frustrate those used to shooting with D-SLRs. Its shutter lag, the time between pressing the shutter down and the camera taking the picture, clocks in at about...

Nikon Coolpix P310

The Nikon Coolpix P310 is a modest update to its predecessor, the P300, and maintains many of the same features in almost exactly the same body design. Physically very similar to competitors like the Canon PowerShot S100, it offers PASM exposure modes...

Affordable price compared to other advanced compact camera ; Good build quality ; Fast, f/1.8 lens (but only a wide angle) ; PASM shooting modes ; Effective optical image stabilization ; Good image quality at low ISOs ; Generally responsive performance...

No RAW option ; Small sensor means it doesn't offer the image quality increase of other advanced compacts ; Flash unusable for closest macro capabilities (0.8 inches/2cm) due to overexposure and shadow cast by lens ; Image quality drops off above ISO...

The Nikon Coolpix P310 is a hard camera to categorize, offering the sort of manual control and customization options that we'd associate with more expensive models, but with a small sensor and no Raw shooting option. Ultimately, it's a good-looking,...

Nikon Coolpix P310First Impressions Review

Last year, Nikon marketed the Coolpix P300 as a compact, wide-aperture companion for the serious shooter. It was positioned as an alternative to the very popular Canon S95, but for some reason the model never really took off. Fast forward a bit and we...

Just as the P300 took up a market position directly below Canon’s S95, the P310 is positioned directly below the S100. The last time Nikon tried this strategy, it didn’t really work out. And given how precious-little has changed for the P310, we’re not...

Nikon Coolpix P310

Overall, the Nikon Coolpix P310 has the performance power and impressive form factor to earn it a place in our top ten compact digital cameras. While the manual controls make it best suited to a more experienced photographer, the quality of the photos...

Tiny yet packed with manual controls, the Nikon Coolpix P310 is great for advanced shutterbugs on the go

This compact digital camera has a smaller sensor than some of its costlier competitors, and that can affect photo quality more than megapixels

If you can make use of all the manual controls, this camera is a great portable substitute for your bulky DSLR.

Great pix for what it is

If you're looking for a fast lens, excellent scenery captures night or day, versatility, and full manual... You're looking at the right tool. It is all those things. Where it falls short is in sensor size and zoom length.

Excellent battery life ; Thoughtful Well Executed ; Very Bright Lens

Mediocre Zoom ; Sensor Size
