Depending on how much you like viewing your photos or letting others view your photos, the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is either really cool or a waste. The compact camera houses an ultrasmall projector able to display photos and video at sizes up to 40...

Compact, attractive body with a projector built into the front for instant slideshows up to 40 inches in size.

Photo quality, shooting performance, and features are all that of a less expensive camera.

The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is all about the built-in projector; if you don't need it, you don't need this camera.

A point-and-shoot with a projector in it? Get out of town! It's true, and despite being super expensive, Nikon's novel shooter displays vibrant hi-def images...

The projector feature is Yuri Gagarin-stellar. Pictures were pretty good in most situations without having to adjust a lot of settings

Low-light pictures are a struggle, especially if the ISO has to be raised. Camera is heavy and bulky. Novel feature means early adopter price tag

Nikon Coolpix S1000pj

The Coolpix S1000pj is the first point-and-shoot camera that lets you project your images and video.

Built-in projector. Decent operating speeds.

Very expensive. Subpar feature set for the price. Soft images. Some color fringing. Bulky design. No lens cover to protect projector window.

Despite its other features, the projection capability of the S1000pj really makes you ask why. There is plenty of capacity right now to send digital copies of whatever you need around to your friends, so would you really feel the need to subject them...
