Full-featured ; Ability to e-mail photos directly from the camera ; Excellent image quality

Can be difficult to get out of the WiFi e-mail mode

Nikon Coolpix S7c

This last feature is something new for Nikon. In its newest group of cameras, and presumably going forward, Nikon has applied the VR label, which stands for vibration reduction, to three different forms of image stabilization: optical, also known as...

Great click wheel; attractive, slim design; supports photo e-mail from T-Mobile access points; solid color reproduction.

Annoying top buttons; no proxy Wi-Fi access other than T-Mobile.

Nikon adds T-Mobile hot-spot access to its slim Wi-Fi camera and continues to deliver the image quality we enjoyed in the S6.

Nikon Coolpix S7c First Impressions Review

The Nikon Coolpix S7c was announced August 24 and released this month before being shown off at Photokina in Germany. The new digital camera succeeds the popular ultra-slim S6 model and comes with updated wireless technology. This time, the camera...

- Ultra slim body - Large LCD screen - Pictmotion mode - Effective D-Lighting

- No way to easily change display info - Preproduction model looked noisy at ISO 400-1600 - Slow burst mode - Uncomfortably tiny zoom switch

Succeeding a very popular Coolpix digital camera is the Nikon S7c, which replaces the S6 with its introduction in September. The 7.1-megapixel digital camera has wireless connectivity like its predecessor but adds the new Nikon Connect function that...

Nikon Coolpix S7c Digital Camera - Hands-On Preview

The Nikon Coolpix S7c taps into some smart electronics to compensate for the compromises inherent in small camera design. As a result, the Coolpix S7c is as attractive for its image quality as it is for its styling. The hidden benefit is that you can...

Camera Review: Nikon Coolpix S7c18208255528NikonCoolpix S7cThere are cameras built for performance, and then there are cameras built for fun. The Nikon Coolpix S7c ($280 street) definitely falls into the latter category. That's not to say it doesn't...

Nikon Coolpix S7c

Other new features on the S7c include more pixels (7MP vs 6MP on the S6), a slightly different lens (in terms of maximum aperture), a more powerful flash, Electronic Vibration Reduction, and new high ISO options. What hasn't changed? The S7c still has...

Compact and stylish metal body ; Built-in 802.11b/g for wireless photo transfer and e-mailing (though see issues below) ; Huge, sharp 3-inch LCD display with nice viewing angle; screen is visible in low light ; Tons of scene modes ; In-camera help...

Significant blurring around edges of frame; vignetting; images overall on the soft side ; Above average barrel distortion at wide-angle ; Redeye (despite the fancy removal tools) ; Slow and clunky Wi-Fi implemention ; Misleading "VR" branding on...

At the end of the day, my job is to help people spend their hard-earned money wisely on a digital camera. While it has much to offer, the S7c falls short of the competition -- mostly due to sub-par photo quality -- but for plenty of other reasons as...

Nikon Coolpix S7c Digital Camera Review

The 7.1 megapixel Nikon Coolpix S7c features a 3x optical zoom, 3 inch LCD, wireless capability, and electronic vibration reduction.

Very good image quality ; Nice 3 inch LCD ; Stylish and well built ; Useful, and fun when using wireless features with the Coolpix Connect service

Battery life is average ; Controls may not suit all people ; Glossy finish and large screen are fingerprint magnets

Overall, I was pleased with the Nikon Coolpix S7c.  The image quality was very good and the wireless features worked well.  The camera is also very stylish and thin - you're sure to turn some heads.  If the looks aren't enough, then just flash the...

Nikon Coolpix S7c digital camera

Like Nikon’s other S-series cameras, the S7cis a gently curved metal slab with a completely internal zoom lens. It has a 35mm equivalent focal length range of 35-105mm. The camera's small size and thin design helps it fit easily into any pocket. It...

Product Specifications

A slim, sophisticated digital compact camera, the COOLPIX S7c packs good looks and great performance into compact dimensions, while offering the advantage of vibration reduction and innovations for in-camera image improvement. Combining 7.1 effective megapixels of imaging performance with a 35-105mm (35mm equivalent) Zoom-Nikkor ED lens, the COOLPIX S7c can capture everything from wide-open landscapes to tight portraits with outstanding clarity and true-to-life color. And because it features a large, bright 3.0-inch LCD monitor with an unusually wide 170-degree viewing angle, it realizes smoother composition and high-quality playback anywhere. What's more, the camera offers e-VR and other Vibration Reduction capabilities that can compensate for camera shake and unsteady subjects to realize sharper, clearer results. Anti-shake mode can automatically activate e-VR and BSS that selects the sharpest image from up to ten sequential shots, while also setting the optimal ISO for steady results. High-Sensitivity mode also makes the most of the camera's exceptionally high light sensitivity by choosing the optimal setting up to ISO 1600 for the shooting of fast-moving subjects or clearer results in lower light. The COOLPIX S7c offers the additional benefit of built-in IEEE 802.11b/g LAN support. With a Wi-Fi antenna set unobtrusively into its stylish body, it supports wireless image transfer that sends pictures to a computer on command, wireless shooting that sends each shot to a computer as soon as it's taken and wireless printing to PictBridge-compatible printers. The COOLPIX S7c is also compatible with Nikon's COOLPIX CONNECT service that lets users take pictures, then send them to friends across the world in mere seconds. What's more, it's absolutely free of charge! Just take the shots, select recipients from the in-camera address list and send them straight from the camera's built-in Wi-Fi antenna to a local wireless network. Making it easier than ever to get great-looking pictures, the COOLPIX S7c features a handy One-touch portrait button that acts as a shortcut to three unique Nikon image innovations - with Face-priority AF automatically focusing on people's faces for satisfyingly sharp portraits, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix allowing photographers to compensate for unwanted red-eye effects in-camera, and D-Lighting rescuing underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight. Satisfying shooting is made easier still with a choice of 15 Scene modes. Extending the enjoyment beyond shooting, the COOLPIX S7c offers the in-camera entertainment of Pictmotion - a function that lets users select their favorite images and movies as well as music and visual styles ready for the COOLPIX S7c to combine them automatically in-camera to produce audiovisual shows that can be enjoyed anywhere on the large built-in LCD. The camera also features a new Stop-motion movie function that lets users create professional-looking animated movies. Nikon adds to the photographic versatility of the COOLPIX S7c by supplying the COOL-STATION MV-15 with the camera. Handy cradles allowing the camera to be simply slipped in, they allow batteries to be recharged without them having to be removed from the camera. It also features a USB port and can easily be hooked up to a TV. Also included is a Dock Insert PV-11, which adds immediate direct print performance with ImageLink-compatible printers. And, like all COOLPIX cameras, the COOLPIX S7c comes complete with Nikon's unique PictureProject software that makes it surprisingly easy to edit, organize and share images and is compatible with a range of available plug-ins for further functionality.
