Affordable, slender pocket sized proportions, attractive finish, decent resolution, 5x optical zoom

Shooting modes inexplicably hidden, variable white balance performance, camera shake and image blur unpreventable, zoom disabled when recording video

There’s not a lot here that we haven’t seen before and done better elsewhere. Still the Magic Filters are fun, the broader than average focal range is useful, the build is more solid than expected and the price is affordable

Olympus FE-5050 review

The Olympus FE-5050 is a low-cost, 14-megapixel point-and-shoot with a wild side. The camera's punk-effect filter may be an inspired flourish, but image quality is variable and critical sharpness mostly lacking.

If you already own the FE-5030 you may not feel the need to upgrade, as most changes are minimal apart from the much improved in-display navigation. But if you haven't discovered this series yet, the FE-5050 is cool, lightweight and easy to operate.
