Olympus SP-350 Digital Camera

The 8-megapixel Olympus SP-350 is inexpensive ($325 as of August 25, 2006) for an advanced camera, yet it offers top-notch image quality. Its tiny, closely packed buttons, however, make the SP-350 most suitable for users who want the option of working...

Very high image quality Long battery life

Must use menus to change many settings Lacks image stabilization

Nonetheless, if you can live without the fancier settings, this step up from a point-and-shoot delivers top-notch image quality for a very reasonable price

Manual controls with sophisticated options; raw capture and onboard editing; compact, attractive body; accepts external flash; conversion lenses and underwater housing available.

Sluggish performance; no xD-Picture Card included; soft photos.

This Olympus SP-350 is packed with powerful manual features, but its performance and photo quality lag behind the competition's.

Olympus SP-350

For 2005 Olympus has announced a new SP-series of digital cameras, the 7.0-megapixel SP-310 and the 8.0-megapixel SP-350 introduce specialized features that enable photographers of all skill levels to express their creative vision. Both cameras feature a

Bottom line - the Olympus SP-350 was a mixed bag. We loved its ergonomics, image quality, and versatile exposure modes, but the slower than average shooting performance and poor battery life forces us to ask you to consider other models. While we can't pr

Digital Cameras - Olympus SP-350 Digital Camera Review, Information, Specifications

The 8.0-megapixel, 3x-zoom Olympus SP-350 is an excellent performer where it counts: printed image quality. It has a wealth of features in a surprisingly compact body; and though it's not the most attractive design you'll start to like it right away...

Full range of exposure modes from full manual to 24 scene modes, Very compact size and light weight, Very simple user interface, Fun to use, Hot shoe allows use of external flash for more power and better lighting with bounce shots, Innovative Help...

Contrast is a little high, tends to lose highlight and shadow detail under harsh lighting, Slightly warm color in Auto white balance mode

When you first see the product shots of the Olympus SP-350, it's not impressive. Its big grip on the right really looks silly, especially in the front shot. Holding and using the camera, however, gives a very different impression

Olympus SP-350

The main differences between the SP-310 and SP-350 are resolution (7.1 vs 8.0 Megapixel), a hot shoe (the SP-350 has one, the SP-310 does not), and body color (gray vs. black)

Good value for the money ; Very good photo quality; good high ISO performance for a point-and-shoot ; Full manual controls ; Large LCD display gains up in low light (but see issues below) ; Support for RAW image format ; Customizable buttons and menus;...

Sluggish performance in almost all areas, especially when RAW is used ; While big in size, LCD is small in resolution ; Unimpressive burst mode: slow frame rate, small buffer, LCD blackout ; Movies limited to 20 seconds at highest quality setting ;...

I have mixed feelings about the Olympus SP-350. While I like the design, features, and photo quality, the camera always felt sluggish when I was using it. While I'm not asking for D-SLRs speeds, it would've been nice if the camera was at least as...

Olympus SP-350 Digital Camera Pro Review

Even though I did not fall right in love with the SP-350, I quickly became enamored of its features, flexibility, and image quality. The camera is very light, easy to carry, and offers a great deal of flexibility for future photographic growth.

"Batteries "R" Us"

I dislike having to buy batteires for this and not even take pictures before having to change batteries out. I have to physically take the batteries out everytime I use it to keep them from being fully drained. I would like to get this replaced by...

Nice cammera with it's features. takes great pictures.

I can put a brand new set of batteries in this thing and not even turn it on. In less than an hour the batteries are fully drained!! I will never buy another Olympus device again!!

"Nearly unusable!"

This is the most frustrating camera you will ever use. It's battery life is so low it is unusable after about 25 pictures. Actually I don't think the battery is that low, it's just that the firmware/hardware inside the camera is full of bugs and just...

Great feature set

battery life is the worst.

Owners Opinion: Olympus SP-350 (Richard Black2, 29 May 07)

I agree with the review that comments on the slowness of the SP 350. That is my only issue. If the shutter lag could be equal that of a dSLR, I would not be looking at them. I have grandsons who move quickly, and this camera does not keep up. Photos,...
