Olympus Tough TG-820

The very rugged Olympus Tough TG-820 is fast and capable of producing sharp images, but lacks the GPS functionality that is found in competing models.

Sharp lens. Very rugged design. Excellent rear LCD. 5x zoom range. Speedy performance

No GPS. So-so video quality. Must charge battery in camera

In terms of speed, the TG-820 is an impressive performer. It can start and shoot in 1.5 seconds, only makes you wait 0.2 second between photos, and records a very short 0.1-second shutter lag. The Canon PowerShot D20 ($349.99, 3.5 stars) is comparable...

Olympus TG-820First Impressions Review

The Olympus TG-820 is a waterproof camera that both looks and feels like a tough-cam should. It doesn't have a flashy or gimmicky design, but instead looks much like last year's TG-810 camera from Olympus, albeit with a few minor alterations. The...

We like the Olympus TG-820 as a basic tough-cam. Its waterproof specs aren’t any better than the competition, but the camera’s sophisticated design means it has to be taken seriously. It’s got a very different aesthetic than Canon’s D20 waterproof...

Olympus TG-820 iHS

Durable body waterproof to 33ft and drop-proof to 6.6ft ; Good detail and noise performance through ISO 800 and even 1600 ; Fast autofocus and operation

Over processed images look unnatural, even when viewed at smaller sizes ; Somewhat fiddly zoom and navigation joystick ; Terrible video quality and microphone

Great camera for a beginner.

I have been an Olympus user for 6 years and now I see that others out there consider the low light feature and close-up quality. Since that has become important to me, I needed to search for different qualities in a camera and camera manufacturer.About...
