Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37

This point-and-shoot packs a versatile lens and HD video recording into an impossibly small body, and offers good image quality.

Vibrant colors ; Wide angle, 5X zoom lens ; Good low-light performance ; Compact, lightweight design ; Long battery life

Slow shot-to-shot speed ; Poor dynamic range ; Can't use zoom during video recording ; Small LCD

Because of its slow speeds, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 isn’t ideal for action photographers. At t disappoint.49, it’s also more expensive than many point-and-shoots, but for that price you don’t have to choose between compact design and a versatile...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37

The digital camera hasn't escaped the consumer electronics industry's obsession with miniaturization. The first compact consumer digicams arrived in the mid 1990's and they've been getting smaller and slimmer ever since. As far back as 1999 companies...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37

The cute and compact Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 offers some competitive features including HD video capture (1,280 by 720 at 30 frames per second), but its still-image sharpness is not on a par with other 10-megapixel cameras. In a crowded sea of similar...

Very compact. Records HD video (1,280 by 720 at 30 frames per second). Solid controls. Fast boot-up and recycle times

Moderate amount of color fringing. Subpar sharpness for a 10-megapixel camera. Noticeable shutter lag. LCD shows considerable motion blur

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 can record gorgeous HD video, but it loses points for so-so still images, which exhibit some color fringing.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 Review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 is a small and light compact camera aimed firmly at the point-and-shoot user. At first glance the FX37 is rather unassuming, with "only" 10 megapixels, a standard 2.5 inch LCD screen and understated styling, but there are...

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 is a small and stylish point-and-shoot compact which doesn't truly bring that much of note aside from the impressive 25mm-125mm 5x zoom lens to the party. The suspicion is that the FX37 is plugging a gap in the range...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 Review

Just to make this clear from the beginning: the Canon PowerShot SD780 IS isn't going to beat out more advanced point-and-shoots when it comes to pure photographic power.

To the positive, the FX37's ultra-wide Leica lens is still as good as ever: sharp, fast, and much more flexible than the normal-to-telephoto 3x zooms still found on many ultracompacts. But a great lens does not a great camera make, and with the rest of...

Panasonic DMC-FX37 Review at Cameras.co.uk

It is rare that I end up disappointed with a digital camera from Panasonic. That is the case with the DMC FX37. Although I like the features the camera offers I just couldn't get a decent set of photos with my test shots.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FX37

I read this forum prior to purchase as my earlier 'slip in pocket camera' was having problems (as well it might, given the life it led). Images are generally soft or 'indistinct' - yet it does produce some excellent macro shots. To put this view is...

Apart from the image quality issues the mode selection wheel seems designed to self ; change when slipped in a case or pocket. This is why I do not give a higher rating for ; the construction. More than once I have inadvertently taken a movie, or shots...

Product Specifications

The Lumix DMC-FX37 digital camera has a 25mm ultra wide-angle Leica DC lens, enabling you to capture almost double the viewing space at the same shooting distance as compared to 35mm cameras. The 10.1 megapixels DMC-FX37, capable of High Definition (HD) video recording, also includes a powerful 5x optical zoom while maintaining a sleek, ultra-compact body. The DMC-FX37 comes with several of Panasonics proprietary features, including the AF (Auto Focus) Tracking function, which expands the iA system. AF Tracking automatically tracks the subject in the frame by locking it into focus, making it easier to capture sharp, well-focused photos. The Lumix DMC-FX37, which includes internal memory, also features High Definition (HD) video recording capabilities, shooting with a resolution of 1280 x 720p at 30fps. Still photos can also be shot in a 16:9 aspect ratio for optimal viewing on an HDTV. Panasonic VIERA Plasma and LCD HDTVs also feature an integrated SD memory card slot, allowing you to easily view photos by simply inserting the SD memory card into the convenient SD card slot built into the TV. You can also enjoy watching videos in HD quality and view still images by connecting the DMC-FX37 via an optional Panasonic component cable (DMW-HDC2).
