Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX700 (Black)

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX700 is loaded with features, as it should be with a near $400 MSRP. The lens is probably the main attraction for most potential buyers, and understandably so. Although many people are attracted to long zooms, the bright f2.2...

F2.2 ultrawide-angle lens; 1080i movie capture; fast performance; compact for its features.

Disappointing low-light/high-ISO photos; smallish low-res touch screen; no raw capture.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX700 is a fast, feature-packed compact in need of some better low-light photo processing.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX700 Review

Captures sharp photos with pleasing colors.

Captures sharp photos with pleasing colors ; 5x optical zoom lens available while recording video ; 24mm wide angle extreme is one of the widest available in a camera of this size ; High Quality AVCHD movie capture ; Fast and accurate Touchscreen GUI ;...

Some may think $400 is a hefty price tag ; Produced small % of exposures that were a bit strong under harsh sunlight ; Higher luminance noise that we'd like to see (which has been typical of these 14-megapixel sensors)

Panasonic has taken a great camera (the DMC-FX75) and made it even better with the all new Lumix DMC-FX700. This model boasts their latest and greatest Lumix technologies packed into a diminutive frame that can be tucked away in the smallest handbag or...

Great still images. Powerful video recording options. Bright lens (f/2.2). Touch-screen interface. Automatic and manual shooting. Negligible shutter lag. Fast burst mode

Expensive. Dull LCD. Marginal high-ISO performance. Proprietary USB port

PASM exposure modes ; Fast burst shooting modes ; Excellent battery life ; 24mm super-wide angle

Less than sparkling image quality ; Touch icons small and cramped ; Physical switch for rec/playback mode ; Erratic continuous shooting performance

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX700 [REVIEW]

So why would you consider a simple point–and-shoot digicam? Like this one.

Quality: an excellent above average compact digicam.

Consumer review by:

Really good pictures, hd video in a small camera.

Good all-around performer.

We don't need a camera and camcorder anymore. It doesn't really miss with anything. It's very automatic

The screen doesn't do justice to the photos, and is hard to see in bright daylight

terrific camera for beautiful pictures night and day

superb camera for all uses, most difficult to get a camera with right tonal effects, sharp pictures, great camera

a bit heavy for a compact, but i suppose, with all the functions or quality materials, there's not much you can do about it

"Great for wide angle, but some functions are poor."

If you want wide-angle in your pocket, there's nothing like having it. I do love that. But I'd be looking at the upper-level models from Lumix where, I would hope, the additional physical knobs and buttons could help make the camera easier to use. And...

The wide angle is great. And that's what I wanted it for. The manual settings are very nice too, though they're difficult to use. Clearly the good, Leica lens comes through well.

It's quite complicated to navigate the settings, and frustrating for someone who knows what he wants to do, like tick down the exposure or set the shutter speed. The touch screen is somewhat counter-intuitive in many of the ways it actually works. And i
