Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ60 Review

If you like a lot of dedicated buttons and manual controls at your fingertips, but don't want to spend the money for an interchangeable lens camera, the DMC-FZ60 will likely fit your hand like a glove. Its powerful 24X zoom, optical image stabilization...

24X zoom up to 600mm (35mm equivalent) ; 16-megapixel MOS sensor ; Light sensitivity up to ISO 3200 ; Optical image stabilization ; Full manual controls ; f2.8 maximum aperture ; Two customizable function buttons ; 25mm wide angle ; Long battery life...

Burst mode speeds are limited ; Autofocus is not always precise ; High-definition video does not look extremely sharp ; High ISO settings can look noisy ; EVF resolution (202,000 dots) is not very sharp

Pretty good for a camera a supposed #2 among Panasonic superzooms

Priced lower than FZ200 with many of the same features, Surprising depth of manual control

Zoom is a bit short by today’s outlandish standards, Lots of competition with better features, longer zooms, or lower prices

For the model that’s the lesser of Panasonic’s two new FZ-series superzooms, the FZ60 is a pretty impressive camera. It doesn’t match the zoom range of the class-leading ultrazooms anymore, but it does seem to offer solid image quality, based on our...

Panasonic Lumix FZ60 / FZ62

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ60, or Lumix DMC-FZ62 as it's known outside North America, is a 16.1 Megapixel super-zoom camera with a 24x stabilised optical zoom. Announced in July 2012, it replaces the Lumix FZ47 / FZ48. Like its predecessor, the Lumix...

Great image quality at base ISO ; Excellent high ISO noise performance ; Programmable Fn buttons ; New Creative control filters

Narrower zoom range than rivals ; Disappointing burst shooting ; No RAW mode ; Fixed non-articulated LCD screen

The FZ60 falls under the FZ200 as the new mid-range superzoom in the Lumix lineup. An update to the FZ47, the FZ60 uses the same 24x zoom seen in both the FZ150 and FZ47, but behind the lens now lies a 16.1 megapixel MOS sensor. Low-light quality...

I remember some years ago lusting after a (then) new Kodak (remember them?) digicam that had a 10x zoom. Wow! I thought what photographic horizons it would conquer.

I use this primarily on my boat while cruising coastal waters. I find the zoom very good for birds and small animals along the shore. I never miss a shot when using point and shoot auto features, the camera produces clear, sharp photos at all focal...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ60

The FZ60 offers a lengthy optical zoom in a well-featured package, but image purists won't be satisfied with just JPEG capture and a steep price.

24x optical zoom ; Images have good colour rendition ; Good quality sound from the built-in microphone ; Very fast autofocus

No automatic detector to switch between EVF and screen ; JPEG only ; Has the tendency to overexpose photos and video

If you are forking out for a premium-priced superzoom camera, you might as well save up a little more and spend it on the FZ200, which gives you a fast and constant lens at f/2.8, as well as RAW capture.
