It's my 1st digi camera. Good outdoor image quality and color. User interface is logical and friendly. Noise is very apparent in low light, focusing is slow and flash is weak. But for the price, it's a good start for beginner.

First review here since 2003 - since this camera is now basically obsolete, but you may decide to throw some money at one on EBay for a small, throw in your pocket, bag or car type of camera to take some candid shots with - which is why I purchased...

As stated, low light level shooting not good, hard to lock in a focus. High grain at higher ISO level

In good light the camera performs reasonably well with the occasional shot slightly out of focus. In low light it is impossible to achieve accurate focus, resulting in a wasted effort every time. I can only recommend the LC20 for well lit holiday...

I've have tried many digicams in this range, of which I find Nikon Coolpix2100, 775 and Canon A40 to be cream of the crop. Always a sucker for panasonic products, I had to try LC20, guess what, I bought it. Nikon always produces the best pictures with...

yes, me too is worried abt the battery doors. Lack of expansion possibilities (Nikon 775 has wide lens adaptors, filters). Weak flash, if only it can support a an external flash. Play with ISO and exposure settings, will more or less compensate for the...

The camera produces good and sharp pictures with a good working auto-focus. It's use is limited in marginal light conditions.

At least in New Zealand, the after sales service on a camera line with apparently known faults in a production run was appalling - four weeks with no follow up - or feed bcak, and finally received a replacement camera via the sales staff who then...

I've owned this camera since Christmas 2002 & have taken 5,000+ images. About 90% of them came out "Great". The rest were easily edited in one of my many software programs (IrfanView & DCEnhacer are my favorite & FREE). It does under & overexpose...

NOT ONE & I actually like the battery/SD card door, just don't treat it like a Bumble Ball, LOL

I was shopping for a camera for my Uncle in England as a retirement gift. I saw a display in Office Max for $149.00. but they were sold out so I went to Kitz camer's and they did an ad beat and gave me the same price. I had asked the salesman if the...

I don't like the flimsy battery door ; Cheap design, feels like it won't last

A Good Entry Level Camera. The DMC LC20 is easy to use and produces acceptable quailty images (not for printing above 4R). There ARE basic options on the flash modes, colour balancing, exposure compensation and so on. More than sufficient for an entry...

Exposure setting seems to prefer f2.8 or f8 no matter what program mode chosen. I would prefer more colour saturation in the shots

I have been a die hard film photographer for 25 years. I have been watching and waiting for a value digital camera for 15 years (good and cheap). Finally I saw this Panasonic/Leica LC20 on sale at Office Max for $149.99. What a deal! The photos are...

How to get a AC adaptor? From Radio Shack? Does anyone ; know the LC20 input voltage and current requirements, so I ; can get a 3rd party adaptor

I've been using a few digital camera, i find this is the worst camera because of the picture quality taken. There's no flash option, so, indoor picture will be grey, and also outdoor if cloudy day. Software not very nice. I'm also use mustek about the...

Product Specifications

Quick, comfortable shooting and a slender form. Beautiful pictures and outstanding mobility. The compact LC20 makes it easy to enjoy the many features that distinguish the Lumix series, such as the exquisite rendering of the Leica lens and the superior shooting performance made possible by Panasonic's digital imaging technologies. With the Lumix LC20, Panasonic has established a new standard in basic digital camera performance. The Leica DC-Vario Elmarit lens featured on the LC20 is named after the Elmarit lens, the most compact member of Leica Camera AG's renowned lens family. A 3x optical zoom, equivalent to a 35 mm-105 mm zoom on a 35 mm camera, provides dynamic photographs of distant objects. It can be used with the 2x digital zoom to provide 6x zooming. At the core of the LC20 is a newly developed 2, 100, 000-pixel, 1/2.7" CCD, used to convert optical information into digital information. The advanced performance of this new CCD is enhanced by the use of a primary color filter, known for its superior color reproducibility. Panasonic's revolutionary Multitask Image Processing has slashed the time required between exposures. With the LC20, you can snap off consecutive full-size images at a lightning-fast five frames per second - ideal for shooting a fast-moving object or trying to catch the perfect expression on a face. The LC20's flash system is more than just an auxiliary light source. This provides fine light control over a wide range, extending all the way down to wide-angle close-ups within 3.9 inches (10 cm) of the object. The LC20 can record up to 20 seconds of moving images, with 320 x 240-pixel resolution. Moving images are recorded in the QuickTime (Motion JPEG) file format and can be played back on a PC with either a Windows or Mac OS operating system and QuickTime installed. The LC20 saves images onto an SD Memory Card. It gives you an easy way to link your LC20 with PCs, printers, TVs, and handheld computers equipped with an SD slot.
