Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ7 (Black)

For such a small camera, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ7 has a lot going for it.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ7 delivers fast shooting performance and very good photo and movie quality in a slim package with a wide, long lens.

The SZ7's battery life could be better, and its pictures probably won't thrill pixel peepers.

A speedy little camera with a long lens, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ7 performs beyond its tiny price tag.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ7

A slim camera with an impressive 10x zoom lens, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ7 still struggles with image sharpness and detail at higher ISO settings.

Slim body. Long 10x zoom lens. 1080p video capture

Soft images. Limited LCD viewing angle

On speed, the SZ7 delivers very respectable performance. It starts and shoots in 2 seconds, records a 0.2-second shutter lag, and can shoot a 4-shot burst of photos with 0.1 second between shots. It also has a standard continuous drive mode that lets...

"perfect camera for 'fast moving objects' aka kids."

my past camera was too slow to focus, even on sport mode, when trying to capture priceless moments of my children. this camera is quick and 9 times out of 10, crystal clear. had great luck with it both indoors and out, and use the video often as well....

clear active scene pictures

doesn't have the impact resistance of my last camera, so i am careful to protect it more

Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ7 digital camera

The Lumix DMC-SZ7 is small, yet comes with a 10x zoom lens and features very good image quality

Easy to carry and use ; Good lens ; Very good image quality

Not great in dim lighting

The Lumix DMC-SZ7 is a small camera, but it has a big lens that makes it a versatile camera. Its picture quality is good, its ease of use is high and it's a great little compact camera to carry with you in your pocket for all sorts of events, and even...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ7 review

The Panasonic Lumix SZ7 is the first in a new line of "stylish zoom" compacts. Its combination of a small body yet significant 10x optical zoom (25-250mm equivalent) lens sounds promising. Does the SZ7 balance up both style and substance?

10x zoom, small size, point-and-shoot ease of use

Poor viewing angle on LCD screen, point-and-shoot, poor battery life

A good-looking, svelte compact with a sizeable 10x optical zoom lens and decent autofocus. While image quality is good, it’s the LCD’s shallow viewing-angle and the poor battery life that counteract some of the SZ7’s better points. This is a good...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ7 review

The SZ7 looks like a typical ultra-compact camera, but Panasonic has somehow managed to cram a 10x zoom lens into its 21mm deep shell. This is a stunning achievement. Canon goes even further with the Ixus 500 HS, which measures 19mm and has a 12x zoom...

Incredibly slim for a 10x zoom camera, and image quality and performance are up to scratch. Only the screen's poor viewing angles keep the SZ7 from an award

Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ7 review

The Panasonic DMC-SZ7's small size gives little hint to the impressive lens, decent resolution and quality video features packed within. At £200, it's a keenly priced, feature-packed snapper that's perfect for everyday use.

Small body ; Responsive ; Long zoom ; Inexpensive

Some noise on overcast images ; Very slight colour fringing in some instances

Despite some slight concern at the heavy-handed compression I observed in the results from overcast conditions using Intelligent Auto, the DMC-SZ7's performance on the whole was very good.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ7

The Panasonic SZ7 is a slimline compact camera with a very useful 10x optical zoom lens. However, it has still been built to a price, as demonstrated by its average screen.

Long, 10x wide-angle zoom lens in a compact body ; Good overall image and video quality, particularly for web use or small prints ; Sharp Leica lens

Screen is difficult to see in direct sunlight and off-axis ; Can't actually shoot its stated 10 frames per second ; Image quality deteriorates over ISO 400

The Panasonic Lumix DMC SZ7 is a good choice if you are looking for a camera that you can take anywhere, has plenty of flexibility when it comes to picture taking and takes a good quality picture. Looking at its price it offers good value for money...
