Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 (Orange)

Panasonic took a "why mess with a good thing" approach when it came time to update its 2011 top-of-the-line rugged model, the Lumix DMC-TS3 .

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 is an easy-to-use rugged point-and-shoot with some extra exposure control that you won't find on others in its class.

The TS4's photo quality and performance don't improve much from its predecessor, the TS3. It has a somewhat small, low-resolution LCD compared with competing models.

While it doesn't offer much for upgraders, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 is still a very good rugged camera.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4

We appreciate the long battery life and rugged design of this underwater camera. It is not only waterproof, but also more durable than regular digital cameras. This high quality camera is completely airtight to prevent leaks. The high number of photo...

The Lumix DMC-TS4 is waterproof to a depth of 40 feet, deeper than any other waterproof camera we reviewed

Panasonic does not have live chat support

This waterproof camera can withstand harsh outdoor conditions and takes incredible underwater photos.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4

Offering an excellent set of features in a terrific body design, the Panasonic TS4 is great for snapshots in wet, wild conditions, but it falls short for other uses, thanks to diminishing image quality as you zoom from wide-angle.

Goes deeper than most cameras; Built-in GPS, altimeter, and barometer; Full HD video capability; Good battery life

Won't serve as an "everywhere" camera; Lens soft at all but wide-angle setting; Button icons hard to read; Disappointing print quality

For all-weather play snapshots, I can easily recommend the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4. It takes a beating and turns out good photographs and decent videos. If you're looking for an excellent everywhere, daily-carry camera, though, the TS4's image quality...

"A nice UW camera but..."

All-in-all, this camera fulfilled its mission in conditions where very few cameras could. It took very good pictures and movies of a "once in a life-time" trip with my son in the Boundary Waters. We canoed and portaged almost 80 miles, played in...

Very good photo quality compared to other UW cameras.

Zoom engine died after power button and zoom button were simultaneous pressed during startup.

"Extremely disappointing picture quality"

Don't trust your precious holiday souvenirs to this camera. The idea behind the product is brilliant but the execution needs a lot of improvements.

Excellent marketing. very appealing product features

Bad autofocus (doesn't operate under water)

Works great in all conditions!

I did a bit of research on cameras that could be used underwater and had debated between this and a Canon, but the reviews were slightly better for the Panasonic, so this is what I picked. I noticed a number of reviewers mentioning that this camera had...

Nothing 'Tough' about this one!

This is my second Lumix camera, and again a big disappointment. The first one bit the dust with a non-working LCD after barely one year. The second one did not last more than 3 months, it gave up after the first time I took it snorkeling, didn't last...

Bad Luck?

So here I was thinking that maybe I hit the camera or some other weird thing happened that allowed water to full the insides after using it in about two feet of water. The screen showed the early signs by fogging up with lines running across then DEAD....
