Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 Review

The DMC-TZ1, announced in February 2006, takes the successful big zoom formula established with the FZ series of cameras and squeezes it into a much more compact body. The result is the world's smallest optically stabilized 10x zoom camera (on a...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 compact superzoom takes great shots, but a few underperforming features keep it from greatness.

Powerful image stabilization. Very good picture quality. Small for a superzoom.

Shutter lag. LCD solarizes.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1K

10X optical zoom; optical image stabilization; cool flip-book movie mode.

No manual exposure controls; lots of noise in pictures taken at middle and high ISO levels; auto white balance produces warm shots under tungsten lighting.

With a big 10X zoom lens and optical image stabilization, Panasonic's DMC-TZ1 looks enticing, but image-quality issues keep it from making the grade.

Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ1 review

This February, Panasonic introduced the new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 digital compact camera in Lisbon. During the introduction, it soon became clear that it was an extremely compact Mega zoom digital camera, in fact, one of the world's smallest Mega...

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 is a surprisingly compact Mega zoom digital camera that comes from an unexpected source in the photo trade. It is striking that so many manufacturers whose background is not in photography are coming up with photographic...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 Review

The Panasonic DMC-TZ1 is currently the smallest digital camera in the world with a 10x zoom lens. Thanks to some very clever folded optics technology, the Panasonic TZ1 allows you to carry a...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 Digital Camera - Hands-On Preview

The Panasonic Lumix TZ1 is a nice little camera at a great price, with a 10x, optically stabilized zoom lens, high ISO Scene mode, and large LCD. The large 2.5-inch LCD screen, while less accurate than most, is great for sharing your photos with...

Swivel design provides a significant compositional advantage, 10x Nikkor zoom in a compact package, Vibration reduction technology, Face detection autofocus in Portrait mode, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, D-Lighting to lighten underexposed subjects,...

Not much room for the right hand to grip, Small zoom lever, Awkward lens cap, Vertical flash next to lens on swivel design, EV adjustment hidden in menu system, No Manual, Aperture Priority, or Shutter Priority mode, Not as fond of the silver color ;...

The Panasonic TZ1 offers a higher-than-average movie resolution of 848 x 480 pixels, as well as lower-resolution 640 x 480, and 320 x 240 pixel options -- all of which use the QuickTime Motion JPEG format common on most digicams. The Panasonic TZ1...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1

Hopefully that helped a few people out there

Very good photo quality (though see issues below) ; 10X optical zoom in a small package ; Optical image stabilization system ; Well built metal body comes in at least two colors ; Large 2.5" LCD display is visible in low light; handy Power LCD and High...

Images noisier than they should be, especially at high ISO sensitivities; unimpressive high sensitivity mode ; Redeye ; Flash is on the weak side ; No viewfinder of any kind ; Some manual controls would've been nice ; No USB 2.0 High Speed support ;...

All-in-all, I liked the DMC-TZ1 quite a bit -- despite its flaws. If you want an ultra zoom camera that isn't a burden to carry around then the TZ1 should be high on your list.

Camera Test: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1

Panasonic's 5-megapixel DMC-TZ1 comes with something rare on a compact camera: a lens cap! Pop off the lens cap, and you're greeted by a big, bright Leica OC Vario-Elmarit 1:2.8-4.2/5.2-52 Aspherical 10x zoom lens (35mm equivalent: 35mm-350mm...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 Digital Camera Review

When introduced back in February, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1 was the world's smallest 10x optical zoom camera. It has since lost that title to the Kodak Easyshare V610. However, it's still very compact and the benefit of Panasonic's MEGA O.I.S....
