Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4

The 8.1-megapixel TZ4, joins the TZ5 in Panasonic's TZ series offerings for 2008. These models pack a 28mm wide-angle, 10X optical zoom Leica DC lens in a compact design, ideal for the active user needing a versatile camera. By combining a 28mm...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 Review at Steve's Digicams

The image quality from our outdoor images are excellent for a camera in this category. Our photos show good overall exposure and natural color saturation. The Leica 10x zoom lens offers a 35mm equivalent focal range of 28-280mm, and is an outstanding...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4 Review

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4, along with its more feature-rich sibling, the TZ5, is the latest incarnation of Panasonic's compact ultrazoom concept to begin making its way to store shelves.

Great exposure, vibrant color ; Easy to use, byt with enough flexibility for serious shooters ; 10x zoom in a compact is still fantastic ; Excellent movie mode with widescreen capture, HD output

Long-end AF issues ; Still noisier than many competitors beyond ISO 400 ; Not small enough to fit in a pocket ; May not be widely available in the U.S

If it pushes the limits of what could be termed "pocket sized," the latest Lumix still packs quite a punch for its size where features are concerned. While it generally embraces the performance-focused philosophy that underpins most of Panasonic's...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4

I bought this camera last August as a gift to my 17-year old daughter. Since them, I have tried it myself quite a few times, only to confirm the quality of its performance - fantastic 28mm wide angle, almost no barrel distortion; great 10x optical...

Considerably noisy under poor light conditions. But no big deal, just as long as you're aware of it

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4

Takes good movies but only 15 minutes at a time. Takes good pictures but its only 8.1 mega pixel. Too thick and heavy to be considered "ultra portable". Mic placement is bad as when using both hands to film, its easy to cover the Mic with left hand....

Mic can be easily covered by left hand if using both hands to take videos. Too thick ; and heavy to be considered pocket friendly or ultra portable. 10X Optical Lens doesn't ; seem all that close up and personal, (probably due to 28mm wide angle lens)....

Recently I have upgraded my TZ1 to the TZ4 (Great value at the time of purchase). I was extremely pleased with the TZ1 once I got to know the camera limitations. However, I decided to upgrade the camera mainly for the wide angle lens of the TZ4 and...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ4

I bought the TZ4 as an upgrade to my Canon A570is because I wanted the wide angle coverage of the 28 mm lens (compared to the 35mm of the a570). As a bonus I got the 280 mm 10x range. three shot bracketing (3 shots in 0.5 seconds) and zoom in movie...

Would like to be able to force the focus to infinity to decrease the focus hunting at night (in spite of the upgrade to the 1.2 firmware)

Now you can fit sweeping landscapes into a single frame with the 28mm wide-angle setting. Pull in subjects from far away to capture even subtle facial expressions with the dynamic 280mm telephoto setting. Ideal for traveling, Panasonic's DMC-TZ4 Lumix 8.1-megapixel digital camera combines a wide-ranging LEICA DC Vario-Elmar lens with a handy, compact body. The Extra Optical Zoom function also extends the zoom to as much as 15.9x, giving you even greater telephoto power. Set the TZ4 to iA mode and let the five Intelligent Auto functions team up to help prevent shooting errors. Intelligent Exposure corrects lighting differences, so images come out just the way you see them; Intelligent Scene Selector chooses the mode that best fits the situation; MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent blurring from hand-shake; Intelligent ISO Control helps prevent motion blur; and Face Detection helps produce clear portraits by optimizing the focus and exposure settings. With a total of 230,000 dots, the big, bright 2.5" diagonal LCD makes viewing and shooting easier and more comfortable. The Intelligent LCD adjusts brightness automatically in 10 steps as the ambient light level changes, so images are clear, bright and easy to see day or night, indoors or outdoors. The Clipboard allows you to take photos of maps, timetables and other travel info. They are saved in a separate folder of the built-in memory to distinguish them from normal photos. You can print titles and other characters on the photos you shoot with the Title Edit and Stamp. This is great for creating your own postcards from a vacation trip. Input your departure date and destination with the Travel Date Setting. Later, during photo viewing, the camera will indicate on which day of the trip each shot was taken and the location.
