Ultrazoom Pocket Cam Sports Leica Lens, WiFi Connect

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50 $250 Excellent ergonomics and beautiful images. Only drawback: You have to use Sony's proprietary memory cards. Olympus SP-570 UZ

Big, bright 3-inch LCD. 9.1-megapixel resolution. 10X optical zoom lens goes wide to 28 mm. Shoots HD video at 720p and 30 fps

WiFi and HD video are $100 premium over otherwise identical TZ5. Supports uploading to Picasa only. All that metal adds up to a hefty load

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ50

Some things just go together like Brad and Angelina, peanut butter and jelly, Madonna and controversy. And then there are things that aren't so buddy-buddy like digital cameras and Wi-Fi. In theory it sounds wonderful. You take your shots, find a hot...

Good 10X zoom; quality LCD screen and image stabilization; compact

Very expensive; Wi-Fi integration could be better

Now would I spend $449 for this camera

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ50S

This compact camera impresses with its big zoom and high-def video recordings, but the integrated Wi-Fi is too limited.

Wi-Fi connectivity ; Sturdy all-metal body ; Excellent 10X zoom lens ; High-definition video with zoom and autofocus

Wireless uploads only to Picasa ; Pricey ; Poor placement of flash and microphone ; Slow video focus and zoom

In general, we recommend adding an Eye-Fi SD memory card to a camera for uploading over Wi-Fi because it supports several services, as opposed to just Picasa in the case of the TZ50S. And Panasonic charges a hefty premium for the wireless capability on...

The TZ50 is the latest member of the LUMIX TZ-Series, which is known for packaging a 28mm wide-angle 10x optical zoom Leica DC lens (equivalent to 28-280mm on a 35mm film camera) into a compact body. The 28mm wide-angle lens captures subjects and...

Panasonic Lumix TZ50 Review at Steve's Digicams

While this model is very similar to its siblings, the addition of the 9-megapixel imager, huge 3.0-inch LCD, 720p HD movie mode and Wi-Fi capabilities are greatly accepted and appreciated. If you are one who is in the market for a compact powerhouse,...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ50 Review

Panasonic's wireless wonder, the Lumix DMC-TZ50, combines TZ5 performance with the unique ability to transfer images straight from the camera using built-in Wi-Fi.

If the Wi-Fi mode setup doesn’t scare you, though, the TZ50 makes an excellent choice for anyone who wants an ultrazoom camera and wants to quickly share photos while traveling.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ50

Bought this on the reviews of the TZ5 on this website, its the last time I'll do that. Image quality is well below par and speed isn't too great either. Video is very good, but can't make up for noise in images that seems to be present almost at al...

Product Specifications

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ50 has a built-in wireless LAN communications function (Wi-Fi) that complies with IEEE 802.11b/g standards. It provides wireless Internet connection to a T-Mobile HotSpot or home wireless LAN system without having to use a PC or cell phone. Once connected, you can access Google's Picasa Web Album and upload your photos right from the camera. You can also use the TZ50 to check and delete photos that you've uploaded to a Picasa Web Album, without having to use a PC or cell phone. After you've uploaded your photos with the TZ50, you can receive an e-mail (Gmail) on your PC or cell phone with a URL link to your photos. Then you can add a message and forward the URL to friends and family so they can check out your Web album immediately. Have fun sharing your photos anywhere you go. Now you can fit sweeping landscapes into a single frame with the 28mm wide-angle setting. Pull in subjects from far away to capture even subtle facial expressions with the dynamic 280mm telephoto setting. Ideal for traveling, the Lumix DMC-TZ50 9.1-megapixel digital camera combines a wide-ranging LEICA DC Vario-Elmar lens with a handy, compact body. The Extra Optical Zoom function also extends the zoom to as much as 16.9x, giving you even greater telephoto power. Set the TZ50 to iA mode and let the five Intelligent Auto functions team up to help prevent shooting errors. Intelligent Exposure corrects lighting differences, so images come out just the way you see them; Intelligent Scene Selector chooses the mode that best fits the situation; MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent blurring from hand-shake; Intelligent ISO Control helps prevent motion blur; and Face Detection helps produce clear portraits by optimizing the focus and exposure settings.
