Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS50

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS50 is a pocket-friendly camera with a 30x zoom lens, Raw shooting support, and an EVF. It costs a little bit more than competing models, but still manages to earn Editors' Choice honors.

Compact. 30x zoom lens. Integrated EVF. Raw shooting support. Excellent high-ISO images. 10fps burst shooting. Snappy autofocus. Lens control ring. Wi-Fi. Excellent 1080p60 video.

External charger not included. Omits in-camera GPS. Pricey.

Performance and Conclusions The ZS50 starts and captures an in-focus image 1.4 seconds, which is a fine result for a camera with such a long zoom lens. Its autofocus is fast, locking in in less than 0.1-second at its widest angle, and in just under a...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ70 Review

Panasonic has been at the forefront of the travel compact camera market for some time, and the latest model to sit at the top of the range, the DMC-TZ70 builds on what is already a fantastic reputation.

Comparing the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ70 with its predecessor, the TZ60, doesn’t reveal a huge amount of differences, so if you’re thinking about upgrading from that camera, it’s probably not worth it. Similarly, if you’re on the lookout for a bargain,...

Panasonic Lumix TZ70 ZS50 review

The Panasonic Lumix TZ70, or ZS50 as it's known in North America, is the latest version of the company's hugely popular travel zoom camera. Announced in January 2015, it once again comes exactly one year after its predecessor, the best-selling TZ60 /...

Huge 30x zoom range with decent stabilisation ; Built-in electronic viewfinder with eye sensor ; 12 Megapixel sensor a little cleaner at high ISOs ; Support for RAW files, focus peaking and panoramas ; 1080 / 50p / 60p video; also 720 / 100p and VGA /...

Viewfinder image is quite small ; Control dials often perform same function ; Screen still not touch-sensitive ; RAW files won't deliver a boost in quality ; GPS receiver of earlier models removed

Panasonic has always taken the high-ground with its flagship travel-zoom, and it's a trend that's continued with the latest Lumix TZ70 / ZS50. Despite sharing a great deal with its predecessor and actually losing one major feature, Panasonic has made a...

Panasonic Lumix TZ70 ZS50

The most important specification of any super-zoom camera is its optical range. The TZ70 / ZS50 inherits its predecessor's 30x / 24-720mm equivalent zoom, continuing Panasonic's tradition of keeping the same lens for two generations. Interestingly...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ70 compact camera

A versatile camera with a massive zoom in a handy size that can be taken anywhere

Pocket-sized camera with a 30x optical zoom ; Built-in EVF ; Capable auto mode

Chromatic abberation can be noticeable ; EVF sensor too sensitive ; Function buttons could offer more shortcut choices

Panasonic Lumix TZ70

The ‘travel zoom compact' market is one of the most popular around thanks to the combination of a long focal range and an advanced specification, all in a body which is both lightweight and portable.

Panasonic Lumix ZS50 / TZ70 review

One of the best travel zoom cameras out there

30x optical zoom range ; Decent battery life ; Built-in EVF ; Wi-Fi and NFC ; Manual control

No touchscreen control ; Image smoothing at high ISOs ; No 4K video capture ; Can't use some features with raw shooting

The huge zoom range makes this a very versatile travel camera, while image quality doesn't disappoint. Now at an even more tempting price.
