Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 (Blue)

Panasonic has proven before that it knows how to make a top-notch compact megazoom. The 2010 Lumix DMC-ZS7 builds on 2009's ZS3 by adding two features: manual and semimanual shooting modes and an integrated GPS receiver. Combine those with good HD...

Lots of features to experiment with; manual, semimanual controls; built-in GPS.

Disappointing low-light photos.

A very good, fully loaded compact megazoom, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 offers a lot of shooting flexibility and a built-in GPS.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7

Solid image quality, even in low light. Wide and long zoom (25-300mm). GPS for geotagging photos. High-res 3-inch LCD. Stereo audio recording in video mode. Fast shot-to-shot speeds

Price is on the high side. Offers shorter focal length than less-expensive competitors. Proprietary USB port

Lumix DMC-ZS7

Those are in addition to all the features which made the DMC-ZS3 so appealing, namely the 12X, 25 - 300 mm zoom lens, extra-sharp 3-inch LCD display, handy Intelligent Auto mode, and HD movie mode -- just to name a few things

Very good photo quality at low ISOs ; Packs a 12X, 25 - 300 mm lens into a small, well-built package ; Optical image stabilization (new and improved) ; Beautiful 3-inch LCD display with excellent resolution and outdoor / low light visibility ; Manual...

Image quality, especially at higher ISOs, is not as good as its predecessor ; Heavy noise reduction smudges fine details, even at low ISOs, and especially at ISO 400 and above ; Highlight clipping is fairly common ; Redeye a problem, though I'm not...

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 is a compact ultra zoom camera that does most things very well. I like its great zoom lens, beautiful LCD, auto and manual controls, well-implemented GPS, and HD movie mode. I wasn't as impressed with the ZS7's image...

Review: Panasonic Lumix ZS7 digital camera

Panasonic's Lumix DMC-ZS7 has been around since the end of January but has been in the news a lot as of late. That's because Leica rebranded this camera for its new V-Lux 20 point-and-shoot (after giving it a significant price premium). The ZS7 is a...

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ10

The Lumix DMC-TZ10 packs what Panasonic calls 'Travel Mode with GPS' and a price tag of US $490

While the TZ10 is somewhat expensive it delivers in terms of quality and features. A decent buy.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 Review

Panasonic has built a good reputation for their popular TZ and ZS series ultrazooms.

Very good image quality ; Great lens performance ; Fast AF, shutter speeds

AVCHD Lite not in wide use ; Cost

The ZS7 is a great little camera, due in part to the "little" factor. You can pack around a 25 to 300mm zoom in your shirt pocket and hardly anyone will notice. Remove it from your pocket and it will focus quickly, shoot when you press the shutter...

Panasonic Lumix ZS7

Overall, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 lives up to the Panasonic name and delivers quality pictures and enhanced video capturing for a point and shoot digital camera. Its larger size makes it less portable but gives it the extra quality in the zoom...

The Panasonic Lumix ZS7 has the highest powered zoom and amazing picture quality

Low light pictures are quite poor and could use some work

This camera stands out as one of the top cameras for quality picture, long battery life and overall performance.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7/TZ10 Review

The super zoom compacts roll on: now with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 (also known as the TZ10) Panasonic offers a 12x Leica optical zoom that puts into your hands focal range that matches a 35 SLR camera's 25-300mm lens. Some lens!

Quality: I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but this little camera produced pictures that exceeded any I've seen from a compact camera. Very high quality.

"Broken right after the warranty expired"

I purchased this camera from Costco for a reasonable price after comparing several different manufacturers and deciding this was the superior choice. The camera took great pictures and was easy to use. I was very happy with it. At my daughter's...

Great pictures, lots of features, easy to use

battery life. The lense failed to retract after shut down and would not focus or zoom a couple of months after the warranty expired.

"Great value, lots of options, poor night photos"

GPS, big screen, plenty of options for the professional user, underwater housing available, great zoom in compact body.

Poor night shots. With plenty of light, the photos are dazzling. As soon as the sun starts to set, however, watch out! The images become pixelated and blurred. I didn't think it would be that big a deal, but it's enough to keep it from a 5 star rating

Product Specifications

The DMC-ZS7 features a 25mm ultra wide-angle 12x optical zoom f/3.3-4.9 Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens. Incorporating Panasonic's advanced optical technologies, this lens system is comprised of 10 elements in 8 groups, with 2 ED (Extra Low Dispersion) lenses and 2 aspherical lenses/3 aspherical surfaces while preserving compactness. This lens system enables a remarkable 25 to 300mm range of focal length in this compact body. The powerful zoom of the DMC-ZS7 can be freely controlled even when shooting motion images. Inheriting the fine rendering and outstanding quality of the Leica Elmar lens, this easy-to-carry camera delivers beautiful images any time, any place. Thanks to the newly incorporated intelligent resolution technology, the intelligent zoom is available with the DMC-ZS7 which extends the zoom ratio by approximate 1.3x maintaining the picture quality even combining a digital zoom. This means the 12x optical can virtually extend to 16x equivalent. Furthermore, the extra optical zoom function that extends zoom power to 23.4x by using the center part of the large CCD to bring subjects even closer.
