Pentax K-x with 18-55mm and 50-200mm lens (Navy)

Aside from the fact that it comes in too many colors to count, at least overseas, there's a lot to like about the Pentax K-x, an entry-priced dSLR with some sophisticated features you don't normally see in that price class. Continuing its tradition of...

Very good noise profile; nice-size viewfinder for its class; relatively speedy

Doesn't display AF points in viewfinder; no HDMI connector; slow Live View autofocus; mediocre LCD; unreliable image stabilization

A fast, inexpensive dSLR with better-than-average low-light quality, the Pentax K-x nevertheless has some flaws, such as unreliable image stabilization, to watch out for.

"Its a good camera but.."

It's a good camera but not if you want to go farther with photography. I'm getting a new camera soon but i still love my pentax and will continue to use it, but for casual use.

tuns of different colors

uses batteries quickly

"All I could have asked for in an entry-level DSLR"

-Great specs - including HD video (which is difficult to find at such a price)

-...I feel as though it is a bit flimsy. Though I have had it for a year and a bit now, and there are no signs of wear and tear and it is holding up great, it doesnt feel as sturdy as, say, a Nikon entry-level lens. Still love it though!

Excellent beginner SLR

I couldn't be happier. I would definitely qualify myself as a beginner in the world of DSLR photography and this camera hit all my checkmarks. I foresee holding onto this thing for years and years. I've found myself not really using live-view or video...

Sturd/solid ; stabilization buit into camera(unlike the Nikon D3100, the other camera I was considering), which allows me to buy cheap old lenses without stabilization ; About $100 less than the cameras I would consider to be it's direct competition ;...

I can't seem to find out how to auto-focus in HD video. It may not even be an option. I know the new Sony A33 and A55 can do so, but this is an older gen beginner SLR, so I think it doesn't offer the ability. It's ok, just lay off the zoom while doing

Superb performance and value for money

I've done more than 1,500 images since late December and am very, very pleased. Pentax have done a great job designing a small, light, easy to carry and easy to use DSLR, targeted at those new to DSLRs. On the other hand, I'm no beginner and continue...

K-X provides best-in-class images in almost any lighting. High-ISO clarity = less flash and much more appealing indoor photos. In-body stabilization = 2-3 stops with any lens. Very easy to learn and use. Seriously good camera and fun to boot

Initial firmware was incomplete but Pentax has been good about providing updates for battery use and stabilization. Uses AA cells, a negative for some (not me). AF point is not illuminated. I'm OK with it - some are not

Very disapointed.......

Updated on Sep 11, 2011

It was relatively cheap

I have owned four pentax film cameras, three SLRs and one point and shoot camera, they all took great photos. I figured it was a safe bet to buy a digital SLR from them and it would be a sure thing. I was wrong, the picutes are not even as good as those
