Pentax Optio 430RS Camera Review - PCWorld

The Optio 430RS is a nice pack-along camera--small enough to take anywhere, but with enough pixel power for making large, sharp prints.

Pentax Optio 430RS

PENTAX expands its digital product line by introducing two innovative digital cameras, the 4-Megapixel Optio 430RS and the 3-megapixel Optio 330RS . Following last year's Optio 430 and Optio 330 twins, these two new models inherit the same stylish, compac

Pentax Optio 430

The three megapixel Optio 330 was first announced back on 29th May 2001, later, in September Pentax announced the Optio 430, a four megapixel upgrade to the 330. The two cameras are essentially identical apart from the additional image size of the 430....

Good colour, good white balance presets ; Lens exhibited hardly any chromatic aberrations ; Live view histogram ; Ultra-compact size, light weight ; Fast performer, good startup, shot-to-shot and write times ; Metal body, solid feel, although average...

Lens / CCD combination does not perform like a 4 megapixel ; Visible noise artifacts around detail beside smooth areas ; Noisy lens extension and zoom motor ; Produces 'overly contrasty' images ; Unsophisticated bayer interpolation / sharpening...

The Optio 430 is simply a four megapixel verison of the Optio 330. In the upgrade from three to four megapixels you would expect notably more resolution, and while images are larger and measured resolution is slightly higher the overall advantage is...

Pentax Optio 430

Just a month ago we reviewed the Pentax Optio 330 which is the world's smallest 3-megapixel, 3X optical zoom digital camera (as of June 2001) and this month it's the Optio 430 - "the world's smallest and lightest 4 megapixel, 3X optical zoom digital...

Pentax Optio 430 RS

Practically a carbon copy of the preceding Pentax Optio 430, the 430 RS is about the same size as a deck of playing cards, and definitely one of the more portable digicams on the market (similar to the larger members of the Canon ELPH series). At 3.6 x...

Digital Cameras - Pentax Optio 430 Digital Camera Review, Information, Specifications

Just as with the Optio 330 I tested before it, I liked the Optio 430 quite a bit. It's a very appealing package, with an excellent, rugged "feel" in the hand. Easy to use in full automatic mode, it also provides a surprising range of "enthusiast"...

Pentax Optio 430

Back in the "old days", Canon was the only game in town when it came to tiny digital cameras. Soon came Casio, and then Kyocera, and now Pentax. These micro-cameras are very popular, since they're easy to pocket, and can do about anywhere

Very small, good looking, easy to carry camera ; Many manual controls, unusual for a micro-camera ; Histograms and exposure info in record and playback mode ; Can use zoom in movie mode ; Good photo quality

Proprietary battery ; No sound in movie mode ; Focusing troubles in lower light ; Zoom and scroll", manual focus features could better ; Shutter speeds limited to 2 secs; Optio 330 could do 15 sec

The Pentax Optio 330 and 430 are the two best mini-camera out there, just edging out the Kyocera Finecam S3. For some people, I think the 330 is fine -- 4 Megapixels may be overkill. If you choose the 430, there are some tradeoffs: the shorter flash...

Owners Opinion: Pentax Optio 430RS (Hctor Martnez, 10 Dec 06)

it is a camera amused, until with his 3D photographs stroboscopic. I do not know another camera that has this amused option. in general for my it is 9-10. single a little slow in the takings of little light

Owners Opinion: Pentax Optio 430RS (Joncho, 2 Mar 06)

Well, this camera is indeed not one that gives mindblowing results. It will cost a lot of photoshop hours to get a satisfying image. I bought this camera for about € 399 euros in 2002 and was one of the first 4 MP cameras at the time, this was the...

Product Specifications

Compact is a word that understates the Optio 430. It is smaller than a conventional pack of playing cards and weighs just 240g. Size, however, is no measure of strength, as its slim, shiny exterior holds the power to achieve a surprisingly high level of image quality. This has been made possible through the incorporation of a powerful 4.13-megapixel 1/1.8-inch primary color CCD and advanced Pentax image processing technology. The Optio 430 also has a high-performance 3X zoom lens (equivalent to 37.5 - 112.5mm in 35mm format), which provides superb compositional versatility and has been reduced in size through the integration of two dual-sided aspherical elements and a redesigned lens barrel. This lens successfully combines impressively high image resolution with a low level of image distortion, and adds a further enhancement to the performance of this powerful compact camera. The Optio 430 even has its own alarm clock function. It can be set to display pictures relevant to your schedule at preset times, or to wake you in the morning with a favorite image. More than just a convenient compact digital, the Optio 430 is now an ideal travel accessory, capable of displaying the time in 62 cities across the globe with its world time function. The Optio 430 lets you obtain pleasing results with simplistic operation. It has a dial, which allows all playback and shooting modes to be selected with ease, while its image processing circuit and user-friendly software serve to further enhance overall operability. In short, the Optio 430 brings convenience with a new level of quality; it allows fast composition and shooting that produces shots with lasting impact.
