Pentax Optio 750Z

Included Memory Amount: 32 MB, Included Memory: Media Card, Media Format: Secure Digital, Type: Compact, Megapixels...

A very powerful and versatile camera with great menus ; articulated LCD viewer, 5X zoom lens, focusable diopter on optical viewfinder, five bracketing modes ; well-placed, easily accessible controls

Problems with exposure and color reproduction. Slow bootup, no RAW mode, small LCD viewfinder, feels flimsy

A fun camera with lots of bells and whistles, the Pentax Optio 750Z, sadly, doesn't deliver top-quality images.

Pentax Optio 750Z

The 750Z was announced on 16th August 2004 as a part of Pentax's new line-up for the Photokina 2004 trade show. Pentax are clearly aiming for 'retro appeal' with this camera, from its fake leather front (it's rubber) to the chrome piping, big...

Neutral tone, conservative color response ; Average noise but high noise reduction ; Good automatic white balance ; Good macro performance ; Good battery life ; Five times optical zoom, good telephoto reach ; 1.8" fast refresh LCD with tilt & twist...

Intrusive noise reduction ; Higher than normal pincushion distortion ; Some vignetting visible ; Lens softness (corner issue a one-off?) ; Perhaps confusing / overpowering controls ; Slow startup, slow off to first shot taken ; No RAW format ; Limited...

It's odd but there's something strangely appealing about the 750Z's retro styling, the faux leather front and chrome piping, it's almost comforting. Don't be fooled though this is one seriously modern camera with a huge range of functionality, both...

That means the competition is pretty fierce. How does the Optio 750Z perform? Find out now in our review

Very good photo quality, though see issues below ; Fairly-compact, stylish, mostly-metal body with a 5X zoom lens ; Full manual controls (and then some) ; Flip-out, rotating LCD display ; Excellent macro, movie modes ; Can save favorite settings to...

Sluggish performance: slow startup, average focusing and shot-to-shot times, unimpressive continuous shooting mode, slow image playback ; Images slightly noisy; vignetting may be an issue for flash shots; some blurry corners ; LCD difficult to see in...

Here's some advice if you're trying to choose between the four compact 7MP cameras. Take a lot of indoor or wide-angle shots? Go directly to the Canon PowerShot S70. Want lots of zoom? Choose the Optio 750Z or the Olympus C-7000Z. If photo quality is...

Pentax Optio 750Z

I own many digital cameras, am somewhat of a collector. used to have a 750z a few years ago and was not too happy with the IQ of this camera. Pictures werewashed out and somewhat fuzzy. the camera would also frequently freeze and the screen would turn...

Slow to start. Need to shoot in TIFF to get the very best quality (really makes a difference on tyhis camera in my opinion), Tiff files take up a lot of room

Owners Opinion: Pentax Optio 750Z (Paul Jay, 13 Sep 07)

Only bought this in May 2007, new from unsold stock, as a pocket P&S. It's a bit too big for a pocket camera but its an impressive tool. Far better than the slimlines on offer today. Classy looks and great image quality. I use it like a standard film...

No problems as such although it does not have a solid feel to it build wise

Owners Opinion: Pentax Optio 750Z (D G, 5 May 06)

I've used this camera for about a month now. It's a really enjoyable camera to use and very flexible. I have a Pentax *ist DS dslr, as well as a Pentax MZ-S 35mm SLR and I consider this 750z my main camera now. This is due to it's small size and...

No problems so far
