Pentax Optio E70

The Pentax Optio E70 is a compact, intuitive, and fun camera that is a cinch to use. It fits easily in your pocket, and it has enough modes to handle whatever lighting or subjects you encounter. While chock-full of features, this streamlined model is...

Intuitive controls ; Flexible, useful in-camera modes

Faces appear reddish in viewfinder ; Auto Picture function is hit-or-miss

This solid entry-level camera has easy controls and good picture modes, but sharpness and portrait abilities are weak spots.

Pentax Optio E70

Large, easy-to-read controls; simple operation.

Slow; small LCD.

For a low-cost pocket camera, the Pentax Optio E70 is a good option for those with simple needs.

Pentax Optio E70 Review

Bottom line, the Pentax Optio E70 is just too slow. Image quality is sufficient for the needs of a beginner, but no photographer at any skill level wants to wait for their camera to finish processing an image. Again and again.

Simple, beginner-friendly use, Large buttons for easy operation

No white balance control, Slow operation, Noisy images at ISO 400 and above

Review: Pentax Optio E70 digital camera

The Optio E70 is good for beginning photographers who don't want to bother to learn the nuances of exposure, framing, and lighting.

The Optio E70 has 18 shooting modes, but that impressive number should not scare off beginners. Big, easily-recognizable icons depict each mode on the menu screen. For instance, little moon and a building represents the “night scene” mode, while a dog...

Pentax Optio E70 review

While chock-full of features, this streamlined model is also great for beginning photographers who just want an inexpensive camera for snapping reasonably good digital photos.

The Pentax Optio E70 is perfect for beginning photographers who don't want to bother to learn the nuances of exposure, framing, and lighting. The Pentax Optio E70 does most of the work for you with its preset modes and Auto Picture feature, but still...

Pentax Optio E70 review

The Pentax Optio E70 proves a compact, intuitive, and fun camera that is simple to use.

Perfect for beginning photographers, useful preset modes and Auto Picture feature, well featured

Average video capabilities, underwhelming sharpness and detail loss, Face Recognition feature hit and miss

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Awesome

Really, for the price, it's a wonderful camera, and worth the investment.

Camera is very easy to use. Takes very high quality photos, and really works a treat. On/off button is easy to use, no hassle with powering the unit. Each of the shoot modes seem to work wonderfully. Panaromas are very simple to make, and a lot of fun...

Face recognition can be a bit of an annoyance, no problem, just turn it off
