Pentax Optio M50

The saying that good things come in small packages doesn't always hold true (Sony Rolly anyone?), but it certainly does in the case of the Pentax Optio M50 ($229.95 list). Loaded with features like face detection and digital shake reduction, this...

Very compact. Fast performance. Face detection works well. Simple, easy-to-navigate interface.

Light on manual features. Smile capture works less than half the time. Flash images are inconsistent.

The Pentax Optio M50 combines overall better-than-average performance with a host of fun features at a great price. But this solid camera is light on manual controls, making it better suited for novices than serious photographers.

Pentax Optio M50 Review at Trusted Reviews

As an entry level camera, the Pentax M50 puts in a remarkably good performance that matches that of more expensive cameras. In particular the high ISO performance is impressive.

Great Features, But Quality is off for a 8MP Cam

This camera should be used for personal use, like using it to go the beach, or use in parties. I wouldnt suggest this for professional photography, as i do not like the quality. Had this as a secondary camera 2 years ago. I dont like it for outdoor...

Lots of settings, features, easy to use menu with presets already in it, good appearance, good for parties and quick and easy use, great audio capture in videos, VERY nice at night photos

Quality and color is bleached mostly, exposure setting doesnt stay: you have to set it everytime you restart the camera, fuzzy video capture, fuzzy pictures as well, odd color in the pictures

Owners Opinion: Pentax K200D (Barry Nelson, 9 Apr 08)

Charlie, I'm shocked ! Ugly? I think it's beautifully streamlined and it's grip is second to none. It has more features than similar DSLRs costing hundreds more. I've only had the camera for two days and I love the way it makes you learn as you go but...

Excellent resolution and detail capture, Sharp results, Good, natural color, Superb 12x optical zoom, Very effective image stabilization, Small and light, but well built, Comprehensive range of controls, Very fast operation, Well designed menu system,...

Some vignetting at wide end of the zoom and in macro mode, Occasional exposure problems, Occasional clipping of highlights and shadows in high contrast scenes, Focus at extreme telephoto sometimes hunts, sometimes misses, Visible noise at high ISO...

It may be the baby of Panasonic's super zoom range, but the FZ3 is a mature, feature-rich product with a stunning lens, powerful processor and outstanding performance.

Great compact digital camera, great pictures, few drawbacks

I have been using Pentax Optio digital cameras for the last 5 years, in fact my first purchase was the original 3.1 MP Optio S, which was lauded for it's extremely compact design (the smallest 3.0 + MP digital camera on the market at the ...

Good picture quality, 5x optical zoom, style, battery life, durability

Color fidelity in low light, no image stabilization, limited flash distance

Solid Camera, Easy To Use, Great Pictures

I've been using the Pentax Optio M50 for a few weeks after having upgraded from a Pentax Optio S4. I've been very pleased so far. The M50 is similar to the S4 in many ways, but takes much clearer pictures. The optical zoom has been improved from 3x to...

Easy to use, good lens, takes quality pictures, small size

limited flash, night photos slightly discolored

A good little camera for the money

I bought this camera to carry in my purse instead of carrying around a camera bag all the time. This is great for work. I can pull it out when I want to capture a shot of something going on at the office or if I see something interesting on the way to...
