Michael Reichmann extols the virtues and examines the quirks of Ricoh's GX100 pocket digital camera.
There's an awful lot to like in the Ricoh GX100, and little to be concerned about. In fact it has quickly become my favorite all-time pocket camera, and now comes along every day, together with my wallet, iPhone, and keys. Pretty soon I'm going to ...

Lovely camera with excellent manual controls and user interface. 24mm eqv lens very useful, and rather unique in its macro capabilities - a really cool combination. Small enough to fit in a medium sized pocket, large enough to handle comfortably. The smal...
Noise, noise, noise. I only use the cam at ISO 80, and even then it's very noisy. For a grainy b&w image one can use ISO 400, but that's really stretching it ; The tele end quite short if one wants that

Lens wobble doesn't fill you with confidence ; Dust getting into the lens seems to be a fairly common issue ; Other than that absolutley none
The GX100's slender body accommodates a 24-72mm/f2.5(W)-4.4(T), 3x wide-angle optical zoom lens. Set to wide-angle it can be utilized for wide-perspective pan focus shooting and versatile photographic effects. At medium distances, it is effective for taking portraits or framing scenes. With the freedom to compose and wide potential for expression, the Caplio GX100 appeals to the type of photographer who seeks to enhance his expressive artistry.Striving for compact size and outstanding...
