Ricoh RDC-7

Ricoh's latest entry into the digicam world is called an "Image Capturing Device" and the 3.3-megapixel RDC-7 is surely that. Besides capturing high-resolution digital still images it also creates movie clips with sound, capture text documents or records

The Ricoh RDC 7 Form And Feature Beat Function

The Ricoh RDC-7 is a compact, sleek, little 3.3 megapixel camera with very sophisticated professional features (it can shoot up to a 13.5MB still-image file), in a prosumer point-and-shoot body. We took the Ricoh RDC-7 on a recent working/vacation to...

Weighing only 9.5 oz (without the battery) and with measurements of around 5x3x1", this sleek (yes, I said it again) camera fits snuggly in just about any pocket, yet its metal alloy body felt solid in my hand. Rather than being exposed, the monitor...

I brought the camera second hand from my friend, certainly at a lower than street price. But I do love it for its compactness, though need to spend a while to glimpse through what I could play with it. Image quality is good even without any...

1. Hand grip on top part is too slippery to ensure holding firm of the camera ; 2. Flashlight is too weak for any object about 1 M away indoor or low lighting environment ; 3. Shutter response is too slow. (I always miss my kids' smiling

Superb macro. Sharp and yet soft image. Very easy to carry. Handy and readable copier of books and papers. Very few noises. Excellent value for the money.

The CCD board seems placed a bit off parallel to the camera's side line and cannot produce horizontal line images at a level when taken through the viewfinder that inevitably has to be used in the sun. The dynamic range is a bit too narrow to objects...

Excellent camera, very compact. Outstanding macro capability and great movie features (more than 11 minutes on a 128MB card). Takes time to learn and get used to using the camera, but once you do, it's a pleasure to have it. Swivelling LCD makes...

Things I wish the camera had ; 1) Faster shutter (it's very hard to capture fast moving objects) ; 2) Round lens adaptor so you can add on filters and lens ; 3) To view LCD screen in bright outdoor sunlight is impossible ; and it takes memorizing the...

I carry the camera every where I go. It takes the best pictures for such a small camera. It took a bit of time to learn all the functions but am feeling more comfortable with it as i take pics with it. My one bone to pick would be having to convert the...

My only complaint with this great little camera is that the LCD screen is not bright enough for satisfactory outdoor use. However, I get wonderful results.

Product Specifications

Does your mission critical application require a pocket size device that can capture up to 7 million pixel images, record full length video with sound, serve as a digital voice recorder and even scan documents? Or do you just need a camera that provides superb images and is easy to carry? If so, then the RDC-7 is designed for you. Winner of the profound American Photographer editors choice award, the RDC-7 represents the future of mobile image capture devices, formally know as digital cameras. From an image quality standpoint, the RDC-7 is unmatched. It can shift its 3.34MP CCD the distance of a pixel while capturing two images in eye blinking succession. The resulting image has over twice the image information that a normal 3MP camera can capture. Other unique feature lets you capture unlimited length full motion video with sound, use the camera as a digital voice recorder, photograph documents with crystal clarity, and even take images in rapid sequence. Other special features such a dual memory sources, a secondary shutter release for holding the camera vertically and optional remote control operation makes this camera revolutionary. Regular digital cameras record portrait view subjects horizontally. When processing the images on your computer, you have to rotate them 90 degrees. The RDC-7's secondary release mechanism eliminates this step by storing subjects in their correct orientation. Record and play back AVI movie clips, which use motion JPEG for superior image quality. Such clips are perfect for sharing with others across local area networks or over the Internet. You can record up to 5.5 minutes of video onto a 64MB SmartMediaTM card. The RDC-7 offers four language options: English, German, French, or Japanese. You can also switch to show your images on either the NTSC or PAL television systems.
