Samsung S730 and S630 First Impressions Review

Samsung's latest barrage in the battle of the budget cameras is the S730 a 7.2-megapixel and the S630 a 6-megapixel camera that are priced at $199.99 and $179.99, respectively. Apart from the resolution, the two cameras are identical, so we've looked...

Screen is clear and sharp - Feels comfortable in the hand - Maximum ISO of 1000 on the S730

More expensive than some other budget cameras - Basic body design and styling

The S730 and S630 are budget cameras in both price and features. Neither has any features that really excite us, but they are both competent cameras that are priced under $200, almost an impulse buy. The LCD screen is good, and the controls are...

Great little camera, totally agree with kevm14's!! As far as the post about sticking with Nikon, the guy as to be jokingggg, this camera compares very highly to the L series..I havent read a review that asn't slamed the lag on any of the L's 14 etc...

I take 99.9 shots in the street, being unnoticed is a major plus,so i'd prefer a seperate button for flash, but at this price it wouldnt kill you to disable the flash

Bought this camera for $69 USD. This is a perfect camera to give to a teenager. Very easy to use. A great deal ... can't beat the price. Image quality is quite good for a $69 camera.

Battery problem ; I did only 25 photos and 10 sec video with alkaline battery in pack ; But with sanyo 2500 mAh I did 615 photos (20% flash) and 20 min of video, nice

Don't believe all the praise, the truth remains, it is an underdog brand. Proved once again, if you want to get quality stick with Nikon or Canon. Pana, Pentax, Samsung, Kodak, HP, Fuji... They all offer the same, excellent set of functions with...

I don't like cameras that house the memory card with the batteries ; This camera eats any type of batteries very quickly, very bad power manangement ; The mode dial is too loose and it rotates when putting on a small camera back ; Camera WB is hurrible

I posted a pretty extensive review at PriceGrabber (I'm assuming linking is not allowed), but let me go over the highlights. I've got a Nikon D70s, 4 lenses, a flash, a bag, tripods, etc., so I wanted something pocket-size for all those times I either...

Lots of people talk about battery life and some people even claim to get decent life on Alkalines (with competing cameras, not this one). Frankly, I never even opened the Duracell Ultras from their shrink-wrapped package and opted, instead, to pirate...

All of my rating points should be taken "for the price" and not as absolutes. Let me say right away that my experience is with the S630, which is basically the same camera, but what I was reading here was so contrary to my own experience that I had to...

The main problems have to do with the many, many features and capabilities of this camera. Of course, you can put it in Program or Auto and use it as a point and shoot, but this camera has many features not even hinted at in the slim manual that comes...

This camera was purchased for the sole purpose of hanging out in my bag until those drunken party nights need to be documented. No doubt I'll find other daily uses for it, but lugging the DSLR kit around was not a great idea in every situation. This...

Runs through batteries as though Samsung has an in with Energizer to consume as many batteries as possible

Product Specifications

The Samsung S730 is a high-resolution digital camera that is equipped with a true-color filtered 7.2 mega-pixel CCD. You can use Samsung S730 to produce even better images and take detailed photos for printing up to poster size. In addition, the Samsung S730 has a 3x optical and 5x digital zoom giving 15x total zoom when combined. The ASR technology prevents the degradation of image clarity and color common to flash photography. With ASR the effects of camera shake are reduced in lower light conditions. You can even take well-exposed, sharper pictures in low light without using a flash at all. It guarantees brighter and more natural pictures. The Samsung S730 has an auto sensitivity feature that automatically adjusts sensitivity according to the ambient exposure conditions up to ISO 1000. The high sensitivity setting of ISO 1000 enables you to take clearer indoor pictures in poor lighting without camera shake or blurred images.
