Samsung S1050 (black)

With cameras, you usually get what you pay for. If you're willing to drop more cash, you'll generally get more features, faster shooting, and better pictures. So naturally, when we saw the Samsung S1050--the beefed-up, higher-resolution version of the...

Manual exposure controls; face-detection features are useful.

Slow to shoot; photos are filled with noise at all but the lowest sensitivity settings; face detection is unreliable in low light.

The 10-megapixel Samsung S1050 has lots of neat features, but its photos come up lacking.

Samsung S1050

The first model we have seen from Samsung in their "Designer Series" of digital models, the S1050 is a point-and-shoot camera with a 10.1 megapixel image sensor, coupled with a super-sharp 5x optical zoom lens

The S1050 also offers Samsung's Intelligent Face Recognition Technology, which detects the subject's face and automatically adjusts auto focus and auto exposure to ensure the best possible image quality in portraits and other shots featuring people....

Samsung S1050 and S850 First Impressions Review

Samsung announced several new digital cameras at the Consumer Electronics Show, including two from its point-and-shoot S-series. The 10.1-megapixel Samsung S1050 takes the helm as the flagship model, with the 8.1-megapixel Samsung S850 as the sidekick....

- Big LCD screens - Mode dial with GUI - Big movie files with lots of options - ISO up to 1600 at full res - Lots of picture effects - 45 MB of internal memory

- Black buttons blend with body - LCD grease collection - Confusing menu setup - Not easy to use

The pre-production model I handled on the show floor was quite primitive. It really is just a few steps beyond a clay and popsicle stick-type model. Samsung must be finalizing the hardware because the S1050 often froze, had spelling errors in the menu...

Samsung Digimax S1050 Digital Camera Review

Samsung Digimax S1050 is a compact camera with ergonomic grip, lightweight but not very slim, available in 2 colors: silver and black. The features that make this camera be on top of the sales are the high megapixels, high optical zoom (5x instead of...

Good camera in terms of functionality, but bad photos

When i compared it to other cameras, the Samsung S1050 had by far the most functionalities in that price range. You can manually change the timing, the focal point, the ISO, and many other functions. The automatic function also works nicely. The...

The camera has many functionalities, and you can change almost any aspect of making a photo. But you can also use the automatic settings. The camera is very small if you look at all the different functions. The display is excellent

For some reason, the camera does not take good pictures when you compare it to other cameras. It needs more light than more modern cameras. Anything that moves will show up blurry on the picture, unless there is plenty of light. The software stinks

Samsung S1050

I've been using this camera everyday for about 1 year. I love it. Especially the xvid avi video recoding feature is what I wanted the most. I guess this camera is out of production now, so my review here is not so useful for new buyers.

1. ASR is slow, but helps a lot in many cases ; 2. No optical image stablization ; 3. Color is unacceptably pinkish or purple biased in mid-tone areas of pictures taken indoor ; 4. Because of video compression, the video picture is not as clear as...

Okay camera for the average person with a few extras.

Product Specifications

The Samsung S1050 is a high-resolution digital camera that is equipped with a true-color filtered 10.1 Megapixel CCD. This lets the Samsung S1050 produce even better images and take detailed photos for printing up to poster size. In addition, the Samsung S1050 has an optical 5x and digital 5x zoom giving 25x total zoom when combined. The Samsung S1050 has a 3.0" large LCD for improved contrast and color reproduction, allowing you to enjoy a wider and clearer image. The ASR technology prevents the degradation of image clarity and color common to flash photography. With ASR the effects of camera shake are reduced in low light conditions. You can even take well-exposed, sharper pictures in low light without using a flash at all. It guarantees brighter and more natural pictures. The Samsung S1050 has an auto sensitivity feature that automatically adjusts sensitivity according to the ambient exposure conditions up to ISO 1600. The high sensitivity setting of ISO 1600 enables you to take clearer indoors pictures in poor light without camera shake or image blur. Face recognition technology supports more beautiful portrait picture taking. This function automatically recognizes the face of a subject and optimizes focus and brightness in shooting.
