Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1

Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-G1 defies summarization. Is it an overpriced, overlarge 6-megapixel camera with an optically stabilized f/3.5-to-f/4.3, 38mm-to-114mm (3x) lens? A portable photo album with a big 3.5-inch display but a mere 2GB of memory and...

Nice photos and performance; big LCD display; usable as an MP3 player

Awkward, occasionally frustrating design; eccentric Wi-Fi feature set

An overpriced, overweight, and oddball camera, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1 takes decent photos, but its ancillary features--Wi-Fi and MP3 playback--aren't usefully implemented.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1 First Impressions Review

Sony caused something of a stir at the PMA show in Vegas with the new 6-megapixel G1; it's the first of their Cyber-shot models to include a wireless network adapter. Although cameras with wireless adapters are nothing new (Nikon has had several...

- Excellent screen - Design hides controls well when not in use - Image stabilization - Wide ISO range

- Short zoom and aperture range - Small, low power flash - On the bulky side of things - Expensive!

The G1 is an intriguing camera with a lot of things on its side. For one, there is the excellent screen; it is high resolution, bright and has a great viewing angle for showing your photos to the world. If you're a proud parent looking to show your...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1 Review

The first and main thing that strikes you about the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1 is the enormous 3.5 inch LCD screen on the rear of the camera. Sony have cleverly made the screen the...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1 is a brave but ultimately flawed attempt to combine a camera, music player, image viewer, wi-fi and storage device into one product. It undoubtedly has the best LCD ...

I'm thinking of buying me another and give this 1 to my Son

I Love this camera specially the big screen

I really can't find any cons

"Terrible camera! It has never worked properly."

I will never buy another Sony camera.

Takes decent pictures when it works.

In the three years since purchasing this camera which cost around $700, I have spent countless hours on the phone with tech support and sent it back to Sony to have it repaired. It worked for a short time but broke again. Sony is now charging me to repair

Owners Opinion: Sony DSC-G1 (Jeremy Chien, 8 Oct 07)

The G1 has an impressive screen size. That's pretty much it. The pics are great Sony quality as usual, but the internal memory has what they call an "Album Data Error" about 40% of the time, which is very annoying and causes you to have to "check the...

The Album Data error is a huge problem. Also, dust gets under the massive screen ; We've gone through 3 G1's now and they all exhibit that problem. Gross
