Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55 (Black)

When Sony announced its Cyber-shot DSC-H55, the camera sounded less than thrilling compared with its line mate, the HX5V . It shares the same body, lens, and LCD that the HX5V has, but really that's all they have in common. Of course, Sony dropped the...

Compact, lightweight design; good features for the money; capable of snapping photos with excellent quality.

Slow shooting performance.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55 is a compact megazoom camera that is capable of taking some excellent photos, just at a leisurely pace, but at a good price.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55 Review

Sony knows how to pack a compact camera like the Cyber-shot H55 with great features.

Easy to use ; Manual exposure mode ; Very good feature set

Slow shot-to-shot ; Pricey ; Battery life could be better

Indoor image quality is acceptable, on par with competing digicams, but as sensitivity (automatically) rises to overcome lower levels of ambient lighting, noise rises exponentially and color intensity (saturation) suffers a bit. Noise levels are quite...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55

Released in February 2010, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55 is a compact super zoom, or, if you prefer, travel zoom, with a 10x optical range, 14 Megapixel CCD sensor and 3 inch LCD display. It shares the same body shape, lens and some features of the...

Stylish body and great handling ; Dual-mode video stabilization ; Noiseless optical video zoom ; Full manual control ; Sweep panorama

Slow continuous shooting ; Slow flash recycle time ; Histogram linked to brightness control ; Proprietary port and connector

Sony Cyber-shot H55

The Sony H55 is a 14.1MP point and shoot camera with a 10x optical zoom, which covers an equivalent range of 25-250mm on a 35mm format camera. It retails for $249 and is a sort-of middle-of-the-road point and shoot. It's not quite as high end as the...

All in all, the H55 looks to be a decent camera for folks not wanting or needing to go all the way up to the HX5V. The Sony H55 still has some powerful features and a whole lot of resolution to work with at 14.1MP. The Sweep Panorama mode automatically...

"The Sony DSC-H55 is a good high zoom camera"

this is just a first review having bought this camera today second hand in near mint status with free bag and charger . additional card was 5 euro for 8gb .

Lens reach

not fast (think this comes from the image processor )

"Sluggish and bad in low light"

Seems like a good camera for the price at first but within a few months you will start to realize that it's a piece of crap.

Wide angle, 10x zoom, decent quality pictures in daylight

Annoyingly slow "smart" zoom, very slow picture to picture speed, useless in low light (grainy picture without flash, too bright with flash)

"Very disappointed with camera and Sony"

I would not recommend this camera or Sony. There are better cameras for less money.

Small, light weight, fits perfect in a purse. Easy to use. Takes ok pictures without the zoom. Panorama setting is nice for landscape pictures.

Bought this camera in November, 2010 at Best Buy. Took it back to Best Buy in March, 2011 because the screen was white when powered on. Best Buy would not exchange it. They sent it for repair. In July, 2011, the screen and pictures had one corner bla

"Affordable Price and Vest Service"

I have been using this products since January 2010 and found very effective in operation. It's mentioned color regulation is matched with it's operational regulation.

Looking good, handsome design and user friendly

Smaller size - little difficult to operate

Great Camera

I liked it BUT the battery wasn't up to par with my photography on vacation... Replacement batteries are expensive.

Almost everything

Battery life wasn't that great
