Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H70 Review

Sony's Cyber-Shot DSC-H70 is a powerful, yet portable 16-megapixel camera. With impressive features, and ease of use, the H70 is sure to please. It did have some downfalls in the image quality department, so be sure to look at several models before...

Convenient mode dial for quick mode changes ; Thumb placement divot, and finger grip on face ; Sweep Panorama technology is easy to use and captures great images, both vertically and horizontally ; Easy exposure adjustments for manual mode ('select'...

High levels of noise at all ISO settings; can be seen indoors and out when pixel peeping ; Shooting performance is slowed due to the Rec View options; which can not be adjusted ; Weak built-in flash ; When switching modes, it is slow because it gives...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H70 (Silver)

The 16-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-H70 is the least expensive of Sony's 2011 compact megazooms and offers little more than a resolution bump from the camera it's replacing, 2010's 14-megapixel DSC-H55 . The extra resolution doesn't make the photos any...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H70 has a compact, lightweight design and good features and photo quality for the money.

The DSC-H70's 16-megapixel photo resolution doesn't improve photo quality from its 14-megapixel predecessor, and its shooting performance is slow.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H70 is a very good basic compact megazoom, if not the best value.

Wide-angle 25-250mm eq. lens with good telephoto capabilities for a compact ; Good quality lens with optical image stabilization ; Manual control over shutter and aperture ; Sweep Panorama Mode ; Dynamic Range Optimizer Mode ; Good feature set for the...

Mode dial is tiny and hard to operate ; Only two apertures to choose from at a given focal length ; AF struggles in low light ; Slow burst mode ; Sluggish shot-to-shot performance ; Below average battery life ; Few scene modes to choose from ; Warm...

ISO 100 shots look a little better at 13x19 inches.

Solid camera for candid shots

Why did I pick this camera?I had points to use toward a Sony product, so that steered me to the brand initially and from there I did my share of research on the various models and looking at them in stores. My last Sony (a DSC-W5) had ...

10x zoom, slightly larger size so you actually know you are holding a camera

Special battery

"Although this camera is on the slow side..."

All in all this is a pretty good camera.

Light weight and easy to use this camera takes a good clear shot. Its loaded with options and settings.

this camera is slow from shot to shot I believe i read somewhere its like 4 sec. Those seconds count.

"The camera worked great until it failed within 2 months"

This camera failed within a month of owning it. I had it for less than two months before the lense failed and the camera wouldn't even turn on. I never dropped it and took very good care of it for the short period I had it, but it still failed. I got...

compact, quality images, nice photo options

photos are too bright, not the greatest for sunsets, bad warranty service, failed on me fast

"Good camera. Buy it if you find a deal."

I got a sale price and found it is a great camera. It is rated good. It is better than the Nikon I looked at. It is better than the Kodaks I had and might last more than a year. Hope I am gonna miss Peggy and Fahruk. Peggy is only funny on TV. Denby

Much better than Kodaks I had. Best color of any digital camera I have had. Video is better than any other cameras I had including video of my aquarium. Detail in regular and close ups is awesome. Great buy!

I don't know of any at this point except slow for multi shot and only 3. SO what?

Decent price, not so decent options

I purchased this camera as a replacement for the compact camera I dropped in the pool this summer and wasn't able to repair. I returned it after a week :-( I couldn't take the slowness. I have had 2 sonys that I've absolutely loved, however they were...

Price, compact design, zoom

"Poor Video Quality"

Sony continues to have issues w/their CyberShots video quality. For the cost, it's a good value for photo, but NOT for video quality!

Good quality photos, compact. This was a replacement from Sony for us after our Sony DSCW370 failed while under warranty.

SLOW photo shutter speed, much slower than the 14.1 megapixel predecessor. VERY POOR video quality - videos 'Jump', not due to just the zoom video feature.
