Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V (Black)

On the surface -- and even a little beneath it -- the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V is the same as its predecessor, the HX100V . It has the same 30x zoom lens, 3-inch ultrahigh-resolution tilting LCD, and controls and shooting options, including manual...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V is a fast-shooting megazoom with excellent photo and video quality for its class, and plenty of shooting options to make casual and advanced shooters happy.

The HX200V lacks advanced bridge camera features like raw image capture, a hot shoe, or mic input. Some of its shooting modes and general operation can get confusing if you want to do more than leave it in auto.

A lot of camera, both in lens and features, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V is a solid choice for point-and-shoot users looking to do a little more than that.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V ($479) is a high-end superzoom camera that does just about everything imaginable. Whether you're talking about its built-in GPS, 360 degree panorama maker, 10 fps burst shooting, instant HDR photos, or 1080/60p videos,...

Pros ; Good photo quality, if you don't look too closely ; Massive 30X, 27 - 810 mm zoom lens ; Optical image stabilization, with 3-way "active mode" for movies ; Articulating 3-inch LCD display with 921k pixels and good outdoor visibility ; Handy...

The Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V has virtually every feature imaginable for a super zoom camera, most of which allow you to take shots that were otherwise impossible. The image quality isn't great when viewed at 100%, but for most people, it's more than...

Lots of detail smudging, even at ISO 100 ; Purple fringing can be strong at times ; Redeye a problem, though it can be removed in playback mode ; No RAW support ; LCD/EVF hard to see in low light ; No manual controls in movie mode ; Ten shot limit in...

Overall, the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX200V is a very good super zoom camera. Its photo quality isn't as good as I'd like, but for the majority of people who will buy it, the smudged details that you'd see when viewing the photos on your computer will just...

"An excellent super zoom camera."

This a fantastic super zoom camera. If feels perfectly balanced in my hand. Not huge, nor too small to fit in the hand very nicely. The zoom feature is just outstanding. I've yet to need all the zoom length of this camera.

Tremendous zoom length. Very nice weight. Feel is darn near perfect. Video as good as any available. Tons of features beyond what I'll ever need yet easy to operate.

No hot shoe, no external mic, unable to zoom in or out in video.

"Love it! Perfect step up from a point & shoot camera"

I absolutely love this camera! I have only had it for 4 days, and have spent hours taking photos with it already.

+ Body is well built and feels very sturdy

- Camera does not come with a memory card

"Great camera, fast, amazing pictures, great zoom."

An amazing camera, with some minor complaints, full control of everything, except, you can not adjust the EV in Manual mode, which is annoying, I love it and highly recommend it, but Sony needs to step up their game.

Zoom, Image quality, Manual everything, effect can be fun, stunning video, great screen, fast performance, many more

Battery life could be better, The sensor that switches to the view finder is too sensitive and should have an off option, Switching between scenes is slow if you don't push okay every time. Very annoying

50x zoom takes the fun out of fotography

You can sit in your car with this camera and take clear head shots of antelope on the other side of a meadow, or stand at the bottom of a mountain and photograph the top. It's too much camera for me in that way. Where's the challenge? If the lighting...

Clear pictures

bulky ; Loose lens cap ; No Reason To Get Close ; Zoom Too Powerful
