Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX300 Review

The hottest in the superzoom segment these days are DSLR-like bridge cameras with massive super telephoto lenses. It clearly looks like all brands are updating their flagship superzoom models. Among a raft of new features, what you can't miss is the...

The control panel comprises a 5-way D-pad, a dedicated button for video recording, buttons for playback, menu and in-camera guide/delete. The D-pad offers instant access to display info, flash modes, self-timer and burst modes, and Photo Creativity...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX300

For a lot of people, the only thing that makes a point-and-shoot better than a smartphone for taking pictures is a zoom lens, and for many of those people, the more zoom range, the better.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX300 has strong image stabilization to back up its 50x zoom lens; excellent picture quality for its class; and a large assortment of shooting options for all levels of photographers.

The HX300's 20-megapixel sensor doesn't translate into better picture quality. It doesn't have a hot shoe, GPS, or Wi-Fi built in. Captures JPEG only, no raw.

It can't match some of its competition in the features department, but the Sony Cyber-shot HX300 still packs a powerful zoom lens and plenty of point-and-shoot punch.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX300 Preview

Sony has announced the DSLR-styled "Megazoom" Cyber-Shot DSC-HX300. The 20.4 megapixel CMOS image sensor pairs with an astounding 50x optical zoom. With a reach like that, you'll be thankful Sony has made its Optical SteadyShot image stabilization...

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX300 Review

The new 20 megapixel Cyber-shot DSC HX300 replaces the HX200 in Sony's ultra-zoom line-up. When I was a kid we watched Sci-Fi movies and read Sci-Fi novels that predicted all the new inventions that would make our lives more fun in the future. One of...

Excellent image quality ; Exemplary handgrip ; Fast f2.8 maximum aperture

Unintuitive menu system ; Zoom control ring lags

The HX300, with its monster Carl Zeiss zoom, can easily handle landscape/scenic photography, wildlife photography, event photography (festivals, concerts, parties, family gatherings), and travel photography. A DSLR shooter would need a camera bag full...

"Does well in most situations"

If you have kids or grand kids this camera does it all. Zoom in on sports events and not have to be where the kids can see you. I use Costco for most of my prints because of the quality of their equipment and their people rave about my pictures. Great...

Great quality pics, especially enlargements. Zoom is magnificent Easy to hold and place on tripod. This is an everyman's camera because it frees you from lugging around multiple lenses. Easy to grip.

None so far as I chose this camera for the features it has, not for the ones it doesn't

"The best bridge camera for the quality and money!"

This is a great overall camera. I bought a rival Nikon product because it had "higher" ratings but it did not do the sports and action photo's nearly as well; and, it's auto-focus paled in comparison to this camera.

Pros - Auto-Focus, Built in Settings, 50x Zoom, 2-10 Continuous Shooting mode, Manual Focus option, Quality and Feel.

Weight - it's heavier than most of it's counterparts.

This is an amazing camera

I got this a few days ago. It is my 5th Sony. It is very easy to use and has incredible features. I purchased the Canon Cybershot 50X 2 weeks ago to compare the 2. Without a doubt the Sony is much more user friendly. Similar features, panorama and...
