Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99 review: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99

Good looking; excellent feature set.

Slippery, small body; touch interface is a little laggy.

Sony packs a lot of features into the ultracompact Cyber-shot DSC-T99, but if you don't need or want the touch screen there are better values to be had.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99 Review

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99 is a slim and stylish digital compact camera for beginners. The T99 features a 14.1 megapixel image sensor, 4x zoom lens with 25mm wide angle setting and Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, 720p HD movie recording, Sweep...

So is it time to approach the desk of your local camera emporium and utter the phrase 'make mine a T99'? If you're looking for an easy to use and very dinky digital compact with a smattering of style and a cherry pick of the latest technological must...

Sony DSC-T99

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99 digital camera replaces the company's previous TX1 model, and is based around a 14.1 megapixel Sony Super HAD CCD image sensor with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar-branded 4x optical zoom lens. The Sony T99's lens offers a...

Nice wide-angle 4x Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar branded zoom lens (25-100mm) ; Extremely compact, lightweight ; Quality 720p MP4 movie mode ; Good Optical Image Stabilization ; Sweep Panorama for effortless panoramas ; iAuto (Intelligent Auto) works well ;...

Noise under control up to ISO 400, quality deteriorates at higher settings ; Very aggressive noise suppression overall limits even ISO 80 images to smaller print sizes than was obvious with our lab shots ; Requires optional Multi Connector cable for...

ISO 200 shots also look good at 13x19 inches, not much different from ISO 80 and 100.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99 – For snapshot photographers

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99 is a camera made for snapshot photography and I won't recommend it to professionals who love to play with the settings a lot. There are some controls offered but shutter bug freaks won't be too happy with them. There is an Easy...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T99

Looking for a snapshot camera diminutive enough to squeeze into the tightest of pockets, yet still packing in most of the latest must haves and remaining usable in the practical sense? Almost an exact match for a credit card, apart from its still...

Small pocket-friendly size, high-ish effective resolution, affordable, well-constructed, large-ish touch screen, quick and easy to get up and running

Image quality is variable and the camera doesn’t cope well with less than ideal conditions; you’d do better with a slightly larger lens (and sensor)

Just small/large enough for usability not to suffer unduly, the T99 feels like good value for its asking price if all you want to do is take the occasional snap.

The smart design and touchscreen aren't enough to make up for poor image quality.

Sony DSC T99

The Sony Cybershot DSC T99 offers a combination of a touch controlled LCD screen and the simplicity of a point and shoot digital camera. The design is attractive with a sliding lens cover. Picture quality is good and the Cybershot DSC T99 fits just...

Small size, design, responsive screen, touch control, ease of use

Colours could offer extra zest

The Sony Cybershot DSC T99 does a solid job. If you are looking for a touch controlled digital camera, but do not want to pay the top prices then this is a more reasonably priced option. It can take a decent snapshot and you should have no problems...
