Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20 is gorgeous on the outside thanks to a slick and slim design and a sharp rear touch-screen LCD. This rugged pocket camera is waterproof to 16 feet, but its image quality is very disappointing.

Sleek design. Waterproof to 16 feet. Sharp, responsive touch screen

Poor image quality. Very few physical controls

Very responsive, the TX20 starts and shoots in about 1.2 seconds, can fire a burst of 10 shots in a second, and records a short 0.2-second shutter lag. It runs circles around the Pentax Optio WG-2 GPS ($399.95, 3.5 stars), which boots and shoots in 2.5...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20 (Blue)

With the Cyber-shot DSC-TX20, Sony has once again proven that a rugged camera need not look like a tank or some sort of extreme sports gear in order to be waterproof and shockproof. The TX20 is dustproof and can operate underwater down to 16 feet and...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20 is a slick, small rugged ultracompact that is fast to focus and shoot, and has plenty of fun shooting options for those looking to do more than just take pictures.

The TX20's photo quality is disappointing compared with nonrugged Sony Cyber-shots, and its design is almost too small and slippery to use in water.

The rugged camera that doesn't look rugged, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20 is a nice option for people wanting an ultracompact for days by the pool and nights on the town.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20

Sony misses an opportunity to perfect the casual tough-cam.

Where the TX20's performance is roughly average for this "vein" of camera, its $329 price tag is not.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20

The TX20, along with the more expensive TX200, is a truly intriguing camera. Waterproof to 16 feet and drop resistant to five, the TX20 manages rugged without sacrificing style. It looks just like any of the touchscreen, internal lens models made by a...

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX20

The Cyber-Shot DSC-TX20 is one of our top picks for waterproof digital cameras for a reason. You can take the camera to a depth of up to 16 feet underwater, where it will function properly and deliver photos in 16-megapixel resolution. Sony provides...

Sony's camera has a sleek design and is waterproof to a depth of up to 16 feet

It takes several seconds to start up and load after each photo and before shooting videos

The Cyber-Shot DSC-TX20 is a useful water-resistant camera for any indoor or outdoor situation.

"Great camera if used properly and great service"

I took this camera on a 22 day camping trip in Quebec through some really rough waters. It worked for about 15 days with no problems even while getting scratched and full of sand. One day, I took it with me on a swim under a waterfall. Now the manual...

Excellent photo and video quality. You may not appreciate the images when viewed on the camera, but on a Retina Display

If used improperly (against the manual) it can be damaged. Also, battery life can be short if you use the photo viewing feature a lot.

"Very Happy"

I'm a college student, so I placed a great deal of thought into my decision for purchasing this camera. I was looking for something cute that could easily fit into my pocket and accompany me on all my water activities in the summer. I also needed it to...

+ Superb picture quality and superb videos

- No extra battery charger

"One nice little camera"

I'm quite pleased with this camera so far. I have a bridge camera, but I wanted something small that takes decent pictures. I feel this one does the the trick. I've taken some great pictures...I wish I could post them here.

Loads of features, including a very good macro setting (1cm) and a great panoramic mode. It's easy and fun to use...the touchscreen is very responsive. It's a cool, well designed camera.

The pictures are not the sharpest, but I'm not a professional photographer, so for me they're fine.

"Not a wise choice, performance and service..poor!!!"

I ordered this camera from Airmiles up here in Canada to go to Clearwater Florida and take some nice pics.

Nice compact camera. Takes half decent pictures. I bought the Olympus TG-1 which takes much nicer pictures and is (REAL TOUGH) Video is good on the Sony. I just don't know why they sell this camera as a tough camera, when it's so delicate.

After 2 weeks in Florida, this shatter proof camera broke. The lens cracked. We brought the camera to a Sony store so that they would send it to their repair facilities under warranty.
