Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W180

I would expect this picture quality from a brand-less cheap product retailed in the range of £15-£20 not from £100 Sony-branded product. All my cameras and video cameras and laptops so far have always been Sony (starting with Sony Mavica -- anyone remember?). So we bought this because it was a Sony, without any preliminary checks, purely on the positive experience with all other Sony products that we own. What a disappointment! This model resembles a £20 children's toy with poor focus, poor white balance and poor resolution. We bought this since our old Sony DSC-P10 (5Mp) camera needed a new battery. We went with it on a family holiday that we had been looking forward to and now all we have are wonderful memories and smeared pictures. On the first evening we noticed that the indoor pictures were poor and yellowish. On the next day we noticed that the outdoor pictures were smeared and lacked focus to the extend that at a distance of 3-4 meters from the camera the faces had just two dark dots instead of eyes. We had bought the camera on the internet from a retailer who only offered 7-days return policy, so we were unable to return it. It went into the bin and we are now still using our old DSC P-10 with the old battery (works for about 30-40 minutes) and looking forward to buying a new camera, but it might not be a Sony any longer.
