Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W90 (Silver)

Sony pushes its Cyber-shot W-series forward by inches, not miles, with the DSC-W90. This 8-megapixel point-and-shoot camera offers a higher resolution than its predecessor, the Cyber-shot DSC-W80 , but otherwise doesn't change much of anything.

Quick performance; good pictures at lower sensitivity settings.

Small buttons feel awkward.

Quick shooting and generally good picture quality make the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W90 a solid choice.

Sony DSC-W90

For 2007, Sony has introduced three new compact "W" series Cyber-shot models. At the top of the line is the DSC-W200, the most compact 12-megapixel camera in the industry. It is followed by the 8-megapixel DSC-W90 and the 7.2-megapixel DSC-W80 model....

The cameras can also be used with the new Sony CSS-HD1 high-definition Cyber-shot Station®, which comes with the component cable. This Cyber-shot station also serves as a charging base, so while you are viewing your precious images o your HDTV, your...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W90

Last year, the point-and-shoot Sony W series was one of the top sellers in the industry simply because the cameras were affordable and took good photos, a pretty winning combo when you think about it. The company has refreshed the lineup to complement...

8.1MP; 3x optical zoom; optical image stabilization

Few manual adjustments; needs optional cable for HD out

I have no problems recommending this latest addition to the W series.

Sony Cybershot DSC-W90 Digital Camera Review

Unlike most of the point-an-shoot digital cameras, Sony Cybershot W90 comes with an optical viewfinder (it's especially useful when you want to spare some battery life). In less than 2 seconds, the camera is ready to take pictures and will focus very...

"Small, compact, fast. So-so image quality."

All in all this is an OK camera, but the performance indoors without a flash is poor. For some reason I've even had issues with noise on outdoor shots. And this isn't limited to very high ISO settings--even at ISO 200 the noise becomes apparent.

Small

LOTS of noise at even low ISO

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W90

I am a Sony product believer. But the DSC-W90 camera has always taken blurred and blotchy pictures. I usually take several pictures until one would come out good. Recently I was at a graduation where the pictures were one shot. No pictures with motion...

The camera works great taking pictures outdoors in bright light, but I'm yet to take decent shots in low light situations. The pictures appear blurred and blotchy.

Product was good until it stopped working. Then I had to deal with Sony customer service. Four phone calls later (including the call back when they ‘accidentally' hung up on me), finally they told me that because my unit had corrosion, they have voided...

"Nothing to get wild about."

My previous Sony was the DSC-P43 and I went straight back to that darling after shooting a disappointing 3000 pictures with the DCS-W90. Comparing pictures from both cameras, the latter's look blah.

It makes decent video and is good for low light photographs, but that's all. Screen is nice.

This camera makes pictures. Period. The quality is mediocre, the sharpness less than that. Rotating wheel has a tendency to move if you don't pay attention. I eventually used tape to keep it in place. Battery life is nothing to right home about.
