Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX7 digital camera

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX7 is a compact 16-megapixel camera with a 5x optical zoom. It's capable of producing great images in good light and acceptab...

Excellent picture quality at base ISO and minimum zoom, it's noticeably smaller than competitors, 1080i video looks excellent for a compact camera

The control layout isn't very intuitive, the telephoto end of the lens has a very slow maximum aperture, viewing a photo at full resolution shows excessive noise reduction and processing

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX7 is a slim compact digital camera that combines Sony's 16 megapixel Exmor-R sensor with a 5x Carl Zeiss lens. The sensor is generally good, which surprised us for a camera with high megapixel count and a tiny sensor, but the...

Great video quality ; Compact size ; Good colour rendition and image quality for reduced resolution or screen viewing

Slow maximum aperture at telephoto end ; Small buttons can be difficult to press ; Over-processing on photos visible at full magnification ; Too many megapixels

Even though it's got a few too many megapixels for its own good, the Cyber-shot WX7 is a nifty little compact camera with an excellent set of features and a good price.

Sony Cyber-shot WX7 Review

With its high-resolution backlit sensor and full HD movie recording, is this the pocket powerhouse for the discerning user?

Clear screen, highly specified, smart design, lightweight and compact

Might be too small for some, processing artefacts, smaller screen than usual for this class of compact

A high-resolution digicam that is small enough to slip into a shirt pocket and offers Full HD video recording. The Cyber-shot DSC-WX7 is one of five 16.2-megapixel cameras announced by Sony at the CES Show in January. Designed primarily for...

Still pictures from the review camera showed the usual boosted saturation and contrast that characterise shots from most small-sensor digicams. The resulting images looked very nice when displayed at full size on a computer or TV screen, although reds...
