When it comes to cameras with a whole lot of innovative features there are only a few that you and I can stand up for. Some of these would be from companies such as Sony, Panasonic and Samsung. We are

Samsung ST5500 Digital Camera

The last year has seen tremendous growth in Samsung's digital photo camera department. Up until early 2009 I wasn't even overly aware that Samsung made very many camera models, let alone could I easily find them on store shelves. Now, partway through...

Compact size ; 7x zoom is more than most compact cameras in this range ; WiFi and Bluetooth options are very useful ; The accelerometer-aided touch screen interface was neat and seemed promising for speed of use ; HD 720p video recording in your pocket

Use of MicroSD storage instead of the more common SD ; I was neutral on the noise reduction performance in some settings

Samsung ST5500 review

The 14.2-megapixel Samsung ST5500 offers the double whammy of a huge 3.7-inch touchscreen at the back and retractable 7x optical zoom at the front, making for a surprisingly able point-and-shoot.

Huge AMOLED screen for shot composition and review ; Retractable 7x optical zoom, which can be used for photos and video ; Responsive touchscreen ; HDMI output ; High-quality build

Takes microSD card only ; You're paying a modest premium for screen, zoom and wireless connectivity

In some respects, the Samsung ST5500 comes across as an exercise in box-ticking. Large touchscreen? Check. Large zoom? Check. HDMI output? Check. Wireless connectivity? Check.

Samsung ST5500 review

The Samsung ST5500 is a Wi-Fi enabled camera that sports a big AMOLED touchscreen - and it captures good quality pictures.

The Samsung ST5500 is a good performer as a camera and it comes with a lot of innovative and useful features. Our only complaints are the relatively high price tag of £299 inc VAT, and the non-wide angle 31mm lens.

Want to upload those captured moments to Facebook or your videos to YouTube in a jiffy? Give this Wi-Fi enabled camera a try.

Very good color reproduction ; Good details and sharpness ; Large AMOLED touchscreen and simple UI ; Long 7x zoom ; Good connectivity options

The lens 31mm at its widest setting is sub par ; Poor screen visibility outdoors ; Fairly good low-light performance

The ST5500 is a Wi-Fi enabled camera that sports a big AMOLED touchscreen and it captures good quality pictures. It has a long 7x optical zoom and records 720p HD video and we did not have much complaints on the performance part as a compact point and...

First take: Samsung ST5500

This point-and-shoot packs a truckload of connectivity features and uses a different technology to mold the camera's body.

Samsung ST5500

This is a small solid and good quality digital camera that can also take excellent quality video. It has good optical zoom at 7x and can take 14MP still images, perhaps best of all it is almost totally touchscreen for ease of use.

Doing my Internet searches found the Samsung ST5500 at a best price of £239.80 from the link below

Samsung ST5500 review

Samsung's 14.2MP compact features a 7x optical zoom and 3.7in AMOLED touchscreen, but does it deliver?

Sleek design, sturdy build quality

AMOLED screen is disappointing, overprocessing on images
