Samsung ST70 compact camera review

Looking for a digital camera that truly delivers on its classification as a "compact"? A slender 16.6mm in depth, and the width and height of a credit card, the diminutive Samsung ST70 is clearly Tardis-like bigger-on-the-inside.

Easy to use thanks to Smart Auto shooting, small, portable and lightweight, good build quality for the price, effects filters offer a degree of creativity for those who want it that isn't usually found at this level

Integral flash is slow to charge between shots, sound drops out when using the optical zoom during video recording, achieving a firm grip on the camera proves tricky when shooting handheld

If you're in the market for a portable snapper that looks cool, provides a better than expected feature set and results - plus will slip easily into a top pocket as you dash out the front door - the ST70 is a sound option. And for the price we'd...

A compact camera that's truly small

Attractively small with above-average image quality; stainless steel faceplate; packs in a lot of fun features

Uses small, fiddly microSD cards; sound cuts out when zooming during video; flash slow to charge

Samsung's high-tech ultra-compact is great value for money
