Great for video shooting with wide lens

The Canon 550d is a great camera and if used with good quality lenses, the results are excellent whether for video shooting or photography. We always bring the canon 550d when shooting property videos using Sigma ultra-wides. The only negative point is the overheating issue especially in warmer climates. Let us hope the future 650d will address the issue of overheating.

Good Image Quality, Easy to use, Good image stabilization, Large clear LCD

Lag / Shutter Delay

Canon EOS 550D Review

Back in July, we saw the Canon EOS 600D DSLR camera, which offered some pretty amazing performances. The 600D is based on the EOS 550D, which launched at the start of last year. Though the 550D is a bit old, it still continues to sell in the market....

The Canon EOS 550D sells at a market operating price in India at Rs.38,700. This is a really good camera and it comes as no surprise that it is still widely sold in the market, despite being almost two years old. This was not intended as a replacement...

Canon EOS Rebel T2i

A step above entry-level DSLRs, this camera captures stellar photos and HD video while still being easy to use.

Fast performance ; Excellent image quality ; Full HD video recording ; Lightweight design

Autofocus doesn't work in Movie mode

Canon's EOS T2i ($899 with an 18-55mm lens) strikes a couple of nice balances: It's easy enough for novices to use but contains enough manual features to satisfy intermediate users looking to get more out of their cameras. More importantly, whether you...

Canon EOS Rebel T2i

It's tempting to refer to Canon's T2i--a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) model--as an evolutionary upgrade from its predecessor, last year's Canon EOS Rebel T1i. That is, until you review the new camera's pictures and video on your computer screen....

LCD with high resolution and new 3:2 dimension ; Excellent software for both Mac and Windows ; Improved video mode with external mic capability ; Higher resolution than previous Rebel cameras ; Higher-quality images and video than older Rebels ; Snappy...

Light plastic feel ; Expensive for entry-level camera kit

Canon's incremental refinements to this Rebel add up to both improved image quality and movie recording that is a notable step forward.

Canon EOS Rebel T2i

The 18-megapixel Canon Rebel T2i has the same high-res sensor as the more upscale Canon 7D, but the new Rebel isn't actually all that different from last year's T1i. High-quality video shooting at 1080p is a big improvement, but dynamic range and long...

The Canon Rebel T2i (MSRP $899.99) doesn't offer many improvements over last year's Rebel T1i. The most significant, however, is the new 18-megapixel CMOS sensor borrowed from last year's Canon 7D. This change increased the sharpness quality, but the...

Canon's Latest Rebel Has a Cause

Canon's entry-level Rebel has more megapixels, better noise reduction and full HD video.

Image-stabilized kit lens. Three-inch 3:2 aspect ratio LCD with a slightly greater viewing angle than the old version. Dedicated Live View/Movie Record button. Quick Control Screen. External microphone jack. Quicktime H.264 video format. SD memory-card...

Lack of quick control wheel (you have to get Canon's 7D or a higher model to have one). Bothersome autofocus assist flash. Build quality not as robust as feature set

Canon EOS Rebel T2i (with 18-55mm lens)

Instead of replacing its tired, old XS and XSi models to compete with younger, sprier sub-$700 models from Nikon, Sony, and Pentax in that extremely popular price segment, Canon chose to release an update to its more expensive T1i in the less...

Fast performance; excellent photo quality; above average video-capture quality

Annoying viewfinder; irritating control layout for video capture

A great follow-up to the T1i, if you want the best photo and video quality in a dSLR for less than $1,000, the Canon EOS Rebel T2i is hard to beat.

Canon T2i

Accurate colors ; Quick response of 3.7 fps ; Good control layout ; Noise under control up to ISO 1600

AF Assist lamp not on body ; Kit lens is weak ; Problematic videos

The T2i delivers accurate colors and decent noise control, but it's hard to overlook its unreliable video performance.

Canon EOS 550D / Rebel T2i Review

The Canon EOS 550D is a difficult product to categorize. Ostensibly designed to appeal to first-time DSLR buyers and enthusiasts, it offers a lot more technology, and at a higher price, than we might expect for a camera aimed squarely at this sector....

Excellent detail and resolution (especially in raw mode) ; Lovely new LCD screen - the 3:2 format really makes a difference ; Capable, flexible AF system in both phase-detection and live view modes ; High-spec video mode, including external microphone...

Auto Lighting Optimizer's effect is subtle to the point of being unnoticeable ; No rear control dial (as found on higher-end Canon bodies) ; Entry-level ergonomics won't suit everyone (the EOS 50D and 7D just feel nicer) ; No in-camera raw conversion...

All in all, the EOS 550D is the most compelling DSLR of its class that we've ever tested. It is hard to imagine how much more we might realistically expect from a product of this type, and although the improvements that Canon has made over the EOS 500D...

Canon EOS Rebel T2i

Canon has done it again. Last year the Canon EOS Rebel T1i ($899.99, ) along with the Nikon D5000 ($729.95, ) led the D-SLR revolution by being the first sub-$1,000 models to offer high-definition video. Capture is limited to 720p, but both cameras are...

Top-notch images. 18-MP resolution. Low noise levels through ISO 3200. Largest and sharpest LCD available on a D-SLR. Multiple HD video-capture modes. Manual exposure control available during video capture. Compatible with SDXC memory cards. HDMI-CEC...

Video recording is not as intuitive as with a dedicated camcorder. Frames-per-second capture is slower than the competition.

The Canon EOS Rebel T2i pumps out beautiful pictures and boasts full-featured 1080p video recording options that were previously only available with D-SLRs twice its price.
